Excellent.. that area will become a hotspot when all those cranes start to rise next year, I'm estimating 2 for the new Convention Center Hotel, 1 for Hyatt, and 1 for the new apartment tower next door.

A 16-story student housing and retail building is about to rise just west of the University of Texas at 2400 Nueces St., the site of the old Wooldridge Hall.
The demolition of Wooldridge Hall was finished in September, and a notice to proceed was issued in the first week of October. The 380,000-square-foot project is scheduled to be ready for occupancy by fall 2013.
When finished, the $64 million building will include studio and one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments for students and faculty.

Construction on 40,000 square feet of medical offices and a hotel in Northwest Austin’s Four Points community could start by the end of the year.
River Place Pointe LP owns most of the 23-acre River Place Center, which includes tracts for 125,000 square feet of professional office space, a restaurant and a United Heritage Credit Union that is scheduled to open in December.
There is, what looks like, an apartment project at 24th and Leon, just a couple of blocks east of Lamar. It is currently a large hole in the ground and it appears that they are beginning to install concrete pillars. Does anyone know anything about this project? I have not been able to find any information or a rendering.
I found a description of the site a few months back saying "site plan residential" though I can't find anymore infomation on the project, I'll post it as soon as I find more about it.
I really appreciate all of the new images too. This is why I visit this site - to see the transformation of our city. It certainly feels as if the "momentary pause" in major activity was really just another (and very short) phase of the downtown boom.

Almost two acres of state-owned land next door to the Triangle development is under contract to an undisclosed buyer with plans to continue the mixed-use development trend in that area.
The prime property along North Lamar Boulevard must be rezoned by the city before it can be sold. The state is requesting zoning that would allow for the highest level of multifamily development in the area.
Similar to the Triangle development, the applicant has proposed to build midrise apartments or condos with the possibility of first-floor retail, according to the city.
AUSTIN, Texas — The Department of Computer Science breaks ground on the Bill & Melinda Gates Computer Science Complex and Dell Computer Science Hall today with a street fair celebration called DigCS.
Groundbreaking for the building complex marks the start of a new era for the Department of Computer Science. After completion in December 2012, the complex's two buildings and connecting atrium will house the department — ranked eighth in the nation — under one roof for the first time in its history.
The department is the only top-10 department in the United States that does not have one central home. The shift to a new facility is expected to propel the department's research and education programs to even greater heights and bring increased vitality to the Central Texas technology economy.
"Technology innovation is absolutely critical to our future, and this new building complex will serve as a catalyst for advances in computer science," says university President William Powers Jr. "More important, it will provide for an even higher standard of education for those students who will become the next computing innovators, entrepreneurs and teachers."
Computer Science Department Chair Dr. Bruce Porter says, "The Gates Complex will enable the department to take on a great many initiatives in research and teaching that were previously impossible for lack of coherent space. In anticipation of the new building, faculty are already proposing new research directions and collaborations, along with new courses and degree plans that will significantly expand the department's impact and reach."
