The rendering for the observation deck is a little weird. I hope EIA remembers that an observation deck is used to observe aircraft and not passengers inside the terminal.

Seems like the roof 'swoops' on the rounded end of the new terminal didn't make it into construction. Too bad, those added a bit of continuity to the rest of the terminal (which has a few of the swoops), and honestly without them the terminal does look a little plain...

Oh well, I guess. Still a great look overall.

Numbers lookin' good. I would assume that September is a 'transition' month for International passenger numbers as the summer charters have wrapped up and the winter charters have yet to really start.

So it appears there will be no increase in service by Air Transat next year despite the fact the new new terminal will be opening up and providing extra capacity.

In our city any additional route is important and AT is in my opinion no better than AC in providing proper service to Edmonton

Where are they going to get the planes for those extra routes out of YEG? Why would they stop a plane from YVR or YYC in YEG if the loads are good?

Transat is having financial problems so they are not going to take bigger risks that usual.

In regards to Air Canada, what 767-300 route are you going to take away from another city pairing? Are you going to take the YOW-FRA away from them? I can tell you they aren't going to use a bigger plane than that until they get the 787 in 2013.

Lack of metal or lack of slots.

Appears to one excuse after another.

They certainly have enough metal to increase capacity on other routes?

If it was a priority they would find a plane.

Seriously? The last time AC got an extra slot to lhr they gave YEG a route. Do your homework. Also, 2013 should see changes as AC can start expanding as well. Remember how things were slow before the 190's were introduced, but as they came into the system along with the CRJ900's Air Canada tried and added alot of new routes. We finally got increased flights to Yellowknife, Montreal, Yellowknife, Kelowna for a while, Victoria for a while... Lets see what 2013 brings, I have a feeling it will bring one good international flight.

Speaking of transat here a few YEG updates.(Does not include all winter routes, Just upgrades or new service.)

*Edmonton-Liberia, Costa rica upgrades to a weekly A330-200 this winter up from a A310-300 last winter. Flights are nonstop.

*Edmonton-Panama City, Panama Re-introduced using A310-300 aircraft routing is YYC-YEG-PTY-YYC-YEG. (benefit of nonstop in one direction)

*Edmonton-Cancun see's A330-200's and A330-300's added to this winter's schedules up from A310-300 only service last winter.

*Edmonton-Montego Bay, Jamacia upgrades to a A330-200 up from a A310-300 last winter.

*(New sun destination!)Sunwing Airlines/Vacations adds Santa Clara/Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba this winter effective Dec 20/11 nonstop both directions using Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Those are the only changes I currently see for YEG for winter 2011/12

^Nice to hear about the equipment change. A decent boost in the # of seats, not to mention the A330 is a hell of a lot purtier than the stubby 310.
