Landscape Arch. work on Olympic village was top notch. That is a make-or-break for a project like this IMO. With Perkins+Will at the rudder, I'm not concerned, but actual execution is another matter entirely.

Edmonton airport redevelopment is UNREAL! Love the idea. Add density, jobs, and relax the downtown height limitations. All the while, creating a pedestrian friendly neighborhood and an incredible park system. PLUS rapid transit is already under construction for the area! Can't wait to see this get realized!

Looks great! Dundas West has really improved in the past few years, becoming a hipster hot spot. This project will greatly improve the streetscape.

I've heard some rumblings about this. Good news! I really hope Calgary is able to attact some of the good Toronto developers like Great Gulf and the like. We currently have a couple active Vancouver developers like Anthem and Qualex Landmark.

It's not a redevelopment, but Markham Centre (which includes developments by a few developers, such as Downtown Markham and Uptown Markham) is, I think, the biggest masterplanned community being developed in North America (correct me if I'm wrong).

Plan is for 41,000 residents and 39,000 jobs in 988 acres.

Downtown Markham:

Uptown Markham (immediately to the north)

Edmonton's plan looks great, BTW.

Vaughan also going through a similar (although smaller) Metropolitan Centre Development, and will be serviced by the University-Line subway extension. Toronto's suburbs are finally growing up.

the subway will end in Vaughan city centre, that is Markham city centre, and is quite a whiles away from a subway line.

That would be a huge addition to the Laval skyline, but it might look kind of awkward if they don't add some other towers in the 30-40s range.

And judging by Laval's current stock of frightfully ugly condo towers, maybe a 60 storey faux-classical, faux-mansard tower surrounded by parkinglot is not such a good idea.

Laval has got to be one of the ugliest cities in Canada. Who in their right mind would choose to live there? I honestly can't think of one attractive building in Laval that has been built since the 1950s. The developments that are being constructed there are pure garbage from an architectural perspective. The only good thing about Laval is that their mayor is good at getting what he wants (Metro extension, A-25 Bridge, etc.)

Longueuil is pretty ugly itself, but I'd take it any day of the week over Laval. At least it is somewhat urban and has an actual downtown.
