That's a sweet looking tower, but would look better sans balconies. But overall, great proposal for Montreal.

we can move this into the 25 tallest's proposal in the top 6 i guess..

^^ Why? There is absolutely no official height associated with this building.

It could be 60 stories or it could end up being 40. When it has a set floorcount and height then it can be put where it needs to go.

Building the Bell Center where they did has got to be the most short-sighted project anyone in this city has built in the last 30 years. In the 1990s there was no shortage of available land in downtown Montreal (and there still isn't!).

They could have constructed it anywhere else. They could even have built it where they did, but simply raised the Bell Center to allow trains to go underneath, yet still terminate at Windsor Station.

But they instead chose to plunk it where they did. This resulted in the permanent closure of Montreal's most beautiful train station. What now passes for our downtown CPR station, Lucien L'Allier, is a complete joke. Just imagine if the airport train ended up terminating there (which is what the AMT wants). Not a great first impression for travelers.

And as if it weren't bad enough, the Bell Centre is one of the absolute ugliest modern buildings in Montreal. Too many different materials are used on the exterior. Even the brick is an ugly colour. It just looks like something that they would build next to a highway in Phoenix. It's fine inside, but outside, yuck...

To vaillant, leftcoaster never came off as being jealous, he's even the one who first broke the news of this project (before anyone on mtlurb) and gave us the most recent renders. He's our inside man on this one. I'm just sayin'...

A lot of people on mtlurb have inferiority complexes, IMO......

As Rico said, Leftcoaster is the one who posted the rendering, and is also the most informed person about this project. He's not "dissing Montreal", he's simply stating, based on his inside information, that it is possible that the tower could be as low as 40 floors. Nothing to get on your high horse about.

And besides, why on earth would someone from Toronto be jealous of Montreal getting one (1) large tower? It is not like they aren't cropping up all over the place in Toronto.

In my uneducated opinion, I think this one could end up between 55 and 60 floors. The Ontario Teachers are giving Montreal a chance to shine. So let's hope for the best, when it comes to sales. I don't think it will be a problem, this will be the first choice condo for sports fans, habs fans and the like.

Doesn't get onto the top 25 until the city report for the proposal is in- but discussion can move to the other thread anytime.
