If True, that would be Montreal's first 200 meter plus tower in over 20 years.

Yeah, at least a year before shovels hit the ground.

We still haven't seen a decent rendering of the original or new proposal.

Great conceptual rendering of the future of Highway 7 (York Region, Ontario).

http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1064586--renaming-york-region-s-boulevard-of-dreams

Interesting quotes from the article about the ambitious goals to promote public transit and urbanity in the 'burbs.

Quote:
Now, more changes are coming that make the highway moniker even more outdated. York Region and Metrolinx are in the process of building a grand vision with transitways, bicycle lanes and highrise development. The region is widening the road, adding a dedicated bus lane from Warden Ave. to Yonge St. by 2014, with an additional 15 kilometres by 2020.
Quote:
“Highway 7 will not be the road that people use to travel through the region. It’s the place that people will go,” said Steven Kemp, director of traffic management with York Region. “We’re really trying to promote public transit use, cycling, pedestrian activity, and trying to encourage development that is more like a ‘Main Street’ kind of feel.”

Dont know where you got the informatation but there is only going to be one tower and the height is no where near being settled upon.

Not to completely rain on the parade, there is still a chance the tower will come in around 200m, but I would assume it will be closer to 180.

BTW here is the latest rendering of this phase of the project.

In all fairness the rear section does look like a second tower all be it connected by one base, and even if comes in about 180m I'm not complaining, just build the damn thing

I love the look of it! Montreal does not have a tower that looks like this! I'm not sure about the balconies though.

Although I kind of half wish that it was built a block south so that the Bell Center could be demolished and Windsor Station could be restored to its former glory.

I take it, you've been waiting a while for a tower like the one in the rendering....

The render isn't very good, but I see what can potentially be a sleek, nice new landmark. Thank you Leftcoaster, you've unearthed the scoop of the century!!!!!

I think its safe that we're talking about a tower of at least 187m in height! (62 X3m).

What I said is that even though I'm quite satisfied with all the new condo towers u/c in Montréal, I always wondered why we have so many 20/25/ and up to 35 stories towers and not any in the 50-60 stories ?

So, I'm pretty sure I'm one of many who are following the real estate business in our city to be excited by the proposal of a 62 stories residential tower in Montréal.
