68 Merton Street Toronto, 13s by Sheridan Mews Ltd/Quadrangle Architects

From http://stevenwarsh.com/developments/68-merton-street/

(Site has 3 additional Jade Waterfront renderings)

^Shows the 5s podium, with 8s tower above that podium. Looks kind of cool.

Nice addition. I like Merton Street, very uptown and consistently urban scaled. I'd definitely like to live on that street.

925-935 Eglinton Avenue West (Forest Hill, Uptown) 9 floors

Looks great. I like the retail units, and great standard/scale for future buildings along Eglinton.

Jade Waterfront Condos is amazing, and going into/ or already in sales. Nice project.

Props to Markham for trying to build a realistic backbone for it's new downtown. Has alot of potential.

Looks a bit like a more restrained version of F&F Tower, nearing completion in Panama City.

True, although F&F Tower has to be one of the worst skyscrapers in the world. I'm impressed by Panama City's skyline and amount of development but the architecture is generally not so good.

Quite true. Both the quality of much of the architecture and the quality of construction leave much to be desired.

A 30-storey office tower proposal in Vancouver, set to be announced next monday:

Glitzy new addition to wave of new office construction aims to be Vancouver's greenest
FRANCES BULA
VANCOUVER— Globe and Mail Update
Published Saturday, Sep. 24, 2011 12:24PM EDT

A European consortium is preparing to develop a new office tower in Vancouver, a first in the city’s recent downtown development and a potential glitzy new addition to an existing wave of new office construction.

The planned 400,000-square-foot tower, to be made public Monday by Credit Suisse AG and Swissreal Investments Inc., will be aiming for construction that’s at the highest environmental certification level ever seen in the city for an office building – LEED Platinum.

The developers are hoping that will attract a group of companies whose corporate philosophies make it a priority to be in the greenest office building available.

“LEED Gold has been the benchmark so far in Vancouver,” says Colliers vice-president Maury Dubuque, whose company worked with Credit Suisse on the deal. “This is higher.”

The building design displayed by the architects, Iredale Group Architecture, shows a strikingly modern tower made up of two distinct components that envelop and preserve the city’s Old Stock Exchange Building on 800 West Pender St.

Mr. Dubuque said it’s the first time in recent history, as far as he knows, when a European company has developed rather than just bought an office building in downtown Vancouver. Two major properties – the Bentall V tower and Harbour Centre – were acquired by German companies in recent years.

But Vancouver has become an attractive market for international capital because it’s stable, he said.

“The message this sends to me is that, despite the world’s economic situation, there is a lot of capital investment happening and they’re looking for a relatively safe haven.”

As well, the city currently has the lowest vacancy rate of any city in the Americas, according to statistics compiled by Cushman Wakefield...

That looks nice, I like the greenery. Vancouver's office construction boom sure is impressive. The double facade looks really neat, very similar to some European designs.

Will be interesting to see what happens with this one. Logic would say at 30 stories plus the crown it will be around 130-140m, but there is a viewcone cutting across the site at 91m. The city tends to be pretty militant about protecting viewcones so this one may be chopped down in height a bit.

That said the city has expressed some openess to relaxing viewcones for buildings of architectural merrit and would definitely be more likely to relax limitations for an office building over another condo building.

Regardless, great to see this one moving forward, that makes 5 active large office building proposals in the city right now, with a few more unannounced. Likely not all will be built during this cycle but at the very least 3 will be built as they are already u/c or have anchor tenants under lease.

.
If it's to be announced monday, don't you think it's already approved by the city?

Anyway, beautiful tower.

Should add that it will be the 2nd LEED platinum skyscraper in Canada after 8th Ave Place in Calgary.

Telus office tower is also going for LEED Platinum, will have to check for the Bentall 6 one, I know it was Gold but thought they reworked it upwards as well.

After checking Bentall 6 is only going for LEED Gold Core and Shell.

I like it! Love the top/roof. A great way to get more height and no extra office space! Looks like most of the roof is "open" or transperant.
