Here's the viewplane analysis for what I think is great expansion to the Marriott Hotel on Duckworth Street. While I think there could be a few tweaks to make it a bit more unique I like, though many may not.

Hmm I actually like that proposal. Finally a St John's proposal I can say something positive about!

Not a huge fan of the overpass though, but I guess they needed to link to the old building.

Good news! I saw the poster in the PATH system with a render of a sharp little renovated office building around the first week of September but dismissed it as a stale proposal as I saw nothing regarding it on UT. Turns out this news simply reached UT a little bit later than usual.

Oxford Properties to Redevelop Peter Dikinson Designed Icon (111 Richmond Street West, Toronto)

Renovations:215,000 square feet of Class A office space
Maintains authenticity of the building's striking modernist design while bringing the facilities up to LEED standards
Includes a public plaza

According to sources the building about 60% pre-leased

Here is the same image I came across in the PATH system:

Read more regarding 111 Richmond Street West.

The project is expected to be finished by late 2012.

How about the 'screened parking' on the main floor sauf one corner for the hotel lobby + coffee shop. That is a killer IMO

Air and Space Museum to become ice rink

Amy Dempsey
Staff Reporter

Quote:
The Canadian Air and Space Museum is being kicked out of its Downsview Park home to make way for a four-pad ice rink.

Volunteers at the historic property were thrown into a state of panic on Tuesday when the museum was served an eviction notice and workers arrived to change the locks.
Quote:
The struggling museum owes property owner Downsview Park $100,000 in past due rent. Still, the eviction shocked volunteers, who say they were on the verge of turning things around after a bout of bad luck that included a failed fundraising campaign and mass management changes.

On Tuesday afternoon, they emptied the building of its artifacts — including a full-scale replica of the legendary Avro Arrow fighter jet — and prepared to vacate the property they have occupied for 12 years.
Quote:
Soknacki said the change comes in part because the museum wasn’t drawing enough people to Downsview Park, the 672-acre site of a former military base that has been dubbed “Canada’s first national urban park.”
Quote:
The new arena, which will be used for skating and hockey, is scheduled to open in September 2013.

The privately operated rink will run some city ice programs and offer 240 hours per year of community programs, which could prove to be good news for skaters and hockey players benched by Toronto’s ice shortage.

Some councilors were not happy with the overpass and didn't want to approve it, there wasn't another way of connecting the two buildings though because the piping under ground is to complicated to mess with.

Very nice. I wish we saw similar refreshments of some of the other great modernist buildings in Canada.

Here is a new proposal for Trois-Rivières, Québec. It consists of two 15 stories condo towers.

This is Trois-Rivières current skyline (stunning for a Québec city of it's size)!

Here's an upcoming development in Victoria, Bayview Place. The left most tower will be starting construction soon and will become the tallest in the city, or at least tie for tallest. All but the two left most buildings in the rendering are massing models only and so are not indicative of their final design.

Sweet!

Victoria's had this quiet, yet consistent building boom for almost a decade now. The city is really filling out nicely.
