I hope they allow the developers to build a 75-storey tower. Saskatoon deserves it. After all, Rolling Stone magazine described Saskatoon's downtown skyline as "squat" and "dominated by a Radisson Hotel".

aside, I am happy to hear the project in S'toon may grow in size. Every development in this province, be it in Moose Jaw, Swift Current, P.A. or the 2 biggest cities, it is all good for the province.

It's called Pure Ultra Lounge and definitely replacing the old 'The Drink' on Dewdney Ave.

From the sounds of this article this would make it sask tallest tower not sure if I am right here ?

Looks like it would be between 95 - 105 meters. That would be intense.

i don't like how the building ignores the street in the River Landing Project. The plaza is great and all, but that buffer of landscaping will take away from the "urban" aspect of the project. Put those at grade uses fronting the adjacent roadway.

Which RLV rendering your referring to? The old RLV or the new RLV?

are you saying that "urban" should = no greenspace?

RE: HILL CENTRE TOWER II CURTAIN WALL REPAIR

Last fall, we engaged a consultant to investigate recurring issues with water leakage on the sloped portion of the building. This year, a scope of work was completed and tendered, and we are now ready to embark on a major repair project.

Early next week, our contractor will begin mobilizing this three month project by setting up swing stages on either side of the building, so they can work on both sides of the sloped wall simultaneously. They will start at the top of the building, and work their way down, removing only spandrel glass and framing. At this point they do not anticipate removal of any vision glass, so there will be no exposure of any tenant space to the outside elements.

Additionally, protective scaffolding will be erected around the building entrances, permitting the safe access and egress to both the 12th Avenue and F.W. Hill Mall doors.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries/Grasslands
I was at Grasslands this evening and noticed that the electric sign for Five Guys has been installed on the building immediately south of Bulk Barn's building. They are still working on the interior so it will be several weeks yet before it opens.
I also noticed that the new traffic lights at the intersection of Gordon Road and Harvard Way are now operational.
Looking forward to the opening of Lowe's.
Has anyone heard any more about Swiss Chalet coming to Grasslands?

I was riding my bike through the park yesterday and noticed a large concrete column behind speakers corner towards the museum. Looks like something could be bolted on top of it, although I didn't get a good look at it.

Any idea what this is for?

I hope Regina's Five Guys is better than Medicine Hat's. I ate there a few months ago and thought the place was loud and the food was greasy and bland. A few hours later I had gastric distress, the details of which I will not disclose.

Do you think a Whole Foods Market would do well downtown? The only reason I ask is that I was looking around their website and noticed a "Suggest a store" link. I would shop at pretty much any grocery store that was located downtown and think that any grocery store could do well there given the growing population and the large workforce, but a full service "healthy" grocery store seems like a good fit to me. Based on their Real Estate guidelines the only issue I see is "Abundant parking available for our exclusive use" (maybe something like the 8th St Superstore underground parking in Saskatoon could remedy that problem? They may have to enforce a time limit to keep people from just parking there, though.) Their suggest a store works by postal code which makes it easy to suggest a fairly specific location or neighbourhood (ie Downtown vs Regina). You suggest a location and their development team looks into it. I don't know exactly how they decide, but perhaps if they had a few suggestions for a particular area it could pique their interest?

Same train of thought, just something I've thought about...

If you were to open a grocery store (any grocery store) downtown, where would you put it? It would have to be somewhere that's easily accessible to people who live and work downtown. Maybe Vic and Rose or Vic and Hamilton? Possibly a two-storey store on a smaller lot...next to the R.M. of Sherwood building Cornwall?
