You're right. Wouldn't be surprising if this is a new Alt hotel. I read a short while ago that alt hotels were planning to build a significant number of new hotels in Quebec, and Montreal.

You're absolutely right, 25 in downtown seems like chicken feed now. Would of been impressive 5 years ago, now its eclipsed by the 50, 40 floors approvals popping up here and there.

Ugly yes but i think it will be a good addition for the more glassy towers going up around it.

Do you have a rendering for the maison hantée proposal, i dont think i ever saw it? That reminds me, we also forgot Hôtel le Dauphin between the maison hantée and the 1009!

Complaint: The building is too tall for the area.

Does Edmonton have more NIMBY's per capita than anywhere else in the world? Anyway, I like the proposal and hope this goes ahead. Nice building and will definitely make an impact on that area.

Guardian looks great!

Western Canada must definitely be getting a building boom!

Vancouver
Richmond (saw an CBC report with a 30 floor proposal?)
Calgary (City Centre I - III, Guardian, Bow, etc)
Edmonton (99st and 115, Manulife 2, EPCOR)
Regina (Hill Centre III, 500,000 sq ft office proposal, Capital Pointe condos/hotel)
Winnipeg (ALT, Convention Centre expansion, CentrePort, Ikea, Airport, CanadInns McPhillips, CanadInns Health Sciences, Fort Rouge TOD, Pembina Hall, the list never ends!)
Gimli (5 floor condos to the north are a start, and they already got taller apartments and a 4-floor lakeside hotel)

Well Epcor is just finishing, being either 1st or second tallest I'd say that qualifies...

@Armorand... City Centre III?? There are only two buildings in the City Centre development.

Epcor is the tallest (basically finished) if you count the zeppelin mouring masts....id post a picture but dont want to have to look at the fat whore.

Just about finished. I believe the exterior is 100% complete.

That was the original rendering of Epcor if I'm not mistaken.

Glazing is much darker and the top of the building is also different on the finished product sadly. Wish it was a few floors taller so it could have had an impact from the South. It's definitely a behemoth and skyline altering addition from the North & West though. Decent addition to Edmonton but Manu 2 proposal blows it out of the water, stomps on it and feeds it to a pack of ravenous Hyenas.

I think the top of the building is better, provided that that's stainless steel (and not concrete) I'm seeing in recent pics.

No, just more vocal ones because of a long period without much change or growth, leading people to fight any type of change out of a sense of protectionism from the unknown.
