I used Minneapolis when I went to EWR and would definitely use it again as the layover time was just over an hour and was by far the cheapest.

Concur in full... easy, good surf bar, but subject (like many) to EWR's congestion.

When I used to travel to DC all the time I found the trip through Minniapolis was by far the most conveniant. I'd get to My hotel in DC 4-5 hours faster than when I went through TO. Plus TOs pre clearance was the most unplesant experience I've had traveling. And this coming from a guy whos traveled in Siberia.

On my way out of YEG this morning I was disappointed to see the lack of progress on the hotel. OK No progress, see people walking around the site but nothing happening.

One good thing though, the flight to YK was half full of German tourist. Plus quite a few people from Ontario heading into the Liard region to go canoeing.

The airport itself was jammed.

^^^ Lol. And they were so happy to boast about not raising the AIF back when they could've actually used the money. They don't look to terribly smart now, cheekily releasing a press release like this. Oh well, if they must. What's 5 more dollars on a ticket with many 000's on it already...?

I doubt anyone will care, $20 to $25 is not a big deal considering how much an ailine ticket is. It is now even with Calgary, Toronto and Montreal with Fort Mac's being even more at $30.

Good to here the airport was jammed. YEG handles over 50% of daily passengers before 10am. Been this way since at least the late 80s.

Im planning a trip to Iceland and I noticed that Iceland Express, a small low-cost airline (5 aircraft in fleet) provides a once weekly seasonal flight from Winnipeg. It got me thinking; first of all, if Winnipeg could support a once weekly, Edmonton certainly could. Also, Reykavik is well positioned as a gateway to Europe, especially for western canada (flights from w. canada to europe flies over iceland). Westjet could provide service to REK and have a codeshare with Iceland Express. It is within range of a 737-700 from YEG.

Well, Gimli, MB has the highest population of Icelanders outside of Iceland, and there is a substantial number spread out around southern Manitoba and northern Minnesota, so that probably has something to do with it.

Anyone out there know why we have a 2nd flight from LHR arriving at YEG at 11:30am Sunday morning? The flight number is AC 2099. Is this a regular occurrence on Sundays?

I found this on the web, but it was from April 2010...
http://www.air-valid.co.uk/events/air-canada-flight-ac-2099-lond.html

The flag carrier of Canada, Air Canada offers its passengers the flight AC2099 from London to Edmonton. The flight Air Canada AC2099 from London to Edmonton is offered to passengers after all the perturbations caused following the volcanic ashes of the volcano that erupted in Iceland. However, Air Canada requests its passengers flying on the flight AC 2099 from London to Edmonton to check their flight status.

Just flew to London on 898. Flight was full. Why would you not fly this flight to Europe. I connected to my next flight and beat my friends connecting in Chicago by 7 hours. So nice. Plus Unlike united we had better food from the sound of it. And personal entertaiment systems

Notice on Friday night when I flew back into town, that the lower curtain wall is going up below the tower. I'll try and get a shot today when I head out again.

From? Downtown? Too bad the service doesn't extend past peak hours for poor schmucks like us airline crews who are stuck in Nisku with nothing to do for 18 hours but cruise the truck stop!
