Took a walk along the portion of the plaza that is open, and there is already graffiti on the deck of the equipment building!

I wonder if they would consider installing visible security cameras in the plaza...?

Unreal. Fricken idiots.

On that note though, is that storage building finished? It sure looks out of place...a giant wooden box plopped down in the middle of the plaza. You would think it would be better suited hidden in the trees a bit. Or am I missing something?

Nope, not finished. The "deck" is actually the rest of the building footprint but something had to be built to house mechanical equipment for the lights. Costs overrun deferred both buildings till next year (maybe....). When it's finished that building will also house the Regina Downtown ambassadors and park patrons will be able to borrow a frisbee, bocce ball, etc.

Good news. Although I still questions it's placement out in the middle of the plaza like that.

According to an advertisement for Centre Square Place in the July 30th edition of The Leader-Post (see front page of the Homes section), the "fully furnished presentation suite" and sales centre opens on "Tues Aug 3". This is obviously a typo as Tuesday is August 2nd and Wednesday is the 3rd, but regardless it opens this week. I have greater confidence that this condo project will proceed than I do in Gardens on Rose or Capital Pointe (but I do hope all three do proceed in the near future).

I'm pretty confident in Gardens on Rose. I think they just have some remaining kinks to work out.

Capital Pointe, I am cautiously optimistic.

Here's my thoughts on Gardens on Rose, first of all they have been saying for quite awhile now that they have sold around half the units. When you go on their web-site and click on the price list icon, it lists all the units and indicates which ones have been sold and for months now this indicates only 26 units sold, so what's up with that?? I don't know about you but if it was my job selling these condos, every time I sold a condo I would IMMEDIATLEY up date my web-site!! You can't tell me they are that slack in updating it!!So what gives??

^^ Either way they are along way off. Don't you typically need 75% off the units sold to begin construction?

Speaking of The Gardens on Rose, isn't this project being built by the same developer that owns and built the additional 4 floors on top of the Victoria Place condos @ 1901 Victoria Avenue (the former Motherwell Building). Pardon me if it had been discussed here in the past, but what exactly was the problem they had there a couple of years ago? The story i had heard was that there was water infiltration (and thus mold problems) on the 8th and 7th floors - the floors located directly below the additional 4 floors of suites. Has this finally been fixed? If so, are there lawsuits proceeding? I know they had to gut several suites - you could see through many windows that the walls were stripped down to the aluminum studs. Several windows were actually taken out and boarded up. I'm just curious if this developer is delaying construction of GoR until everything is clear with Victoria Place. Can anyone provide me with some details?

I had to deliver a package to that building. I was in the elevator and noticed that the top floors where added on to the display above the door with a sharpie pen at that time.

So I got the plans in the mail for the 13th ave Safeway re-development. The Scotiabank will stay. However, they are turning the entire building into a huge box, with a couple of jut-outs. Not impressed. They are taking away all the character of the current building and it also appears the cool neon sign will also be gone.

That's disappointing and at least somewhat unexpected. The 33rd Street store in Saskatoon retained its exterior architecture when they renovated it. From the outside it's mostly just a new paint job and new signs.

Went down to the plaza for a break today and snapped a bunch (sorry) of pictures of the plaza and Tower III.

Some comments about the plaza:

-the pavers they used look ABSOLUTELY fantastic. I was shocked at how great it looks in person!

-the giant corten steel light posts are super cool! They are much bigger in person than they appear in pictures. They feel like a giant, imposing piece of art which is neat.

-I find the "living room" furniture to be a little lacking in mass for the area they are in. When the project started, I was expecting permanent structures that kind of enclosed the area a little. These feel like someone just bolted down some really nice lawn furniture. They look out of place. Hopefully there will be some planters or tables, or something to help "fill out" the area.

-This space is HUGE! It could easily hold a few thousand people for a good sized concerts. I'm thinking some good size touring bands could play the plaza and the atmosphere would be UNREAL.

-That same "hugeness" I think might leave the place feeling a little baron when nothing is going on. There's no trees or greenery between the park and the buildings on the other side. Maybe this is yet to be added?

Anyway, enjoy the pics...

I thought the same thing (judging only from the pictures I've seen). But that's the only 'negative' issue I've come across, in my opinion.
It's looking great otherwise!
