I agree on what Cloud92 is saying. The Frank Erwin Center is nice and all but it's time for a change, have something similiar to the BOK Center in Tulsa.

West 6th street keeps getting better. Whole Foods started it with the construction of their headquarters.

I've never been to Jezebel (and didn't even realize it caught fire). Sounds like a good addition to the ground floor retail. I just hope they don't plot a damn Starbucks next to it...

Same guy is going to run all 3 projects, so locally owned.

Bar Zino and Cafe Zino will be the bar and cafe.

Jezebel was a decent place to eat. The guy runs Braise now (also decent, overpriced for what it is) so it's not like he disapeared completely.

A 20 percent vacancy rate is still very high. It's not likely we'll see any speculative office projects for a while, only companies who are building their headquarters, such as Cirrus Logic's project.

Through June, the vacancy rate for top-tier (Class A) office space was 19.8 percent, an improvement over the vacancy rate of 23.1 percent in the second quarter of 2010 and 20.6 percent the first quarter of this year.

Meanwhile, rents for top-tier space increased for the third consecutive quarter, to $28.24 a square foot per year. That was up from $27.74 a square foot in the second quarter of 2010 and $27.73 in the first quarter of this year.

So...I found the official height for the Four Seasons Residences. The height that had been thrown around was 394 feet. While that number seemed close, I had no idea to what point on the building it was. I needed an accurate number for my LEGO model of it. So, I sent an email to the people at their marketing department back in April. I never heard back from them, so a few days ago I sent them another email to follow up on it. Anyway, I got the email back from them today. The building is 401 feet to the top of the mechanical penthouse (white boxes) on the roof. The highest side of the building is on the east side, where I guess the elevation is lower. See, if you measure a building's height from street level to the top at a point on its property where elevation is its lowest, it actually makes the measurement higher than if you measured from the highest elevation side of the property. This is because the building has to go farther down to that point. Anyway, it's 401 feet to the mechanical penthouses and 382 feet to the main roof parapet (barrier wall on the main roof). So that officially makes it a 400 footer, which is good news, because it had been reported as a 394 foot building. This also makes it taller than both One Congress Plaza and One American Center which moves it up two places in the height ranking to Austin's 7th tallest.

Btw, she mentioned they're now working "full throttle" on a new project. Hmm. And of course I asked about that one, too.

EDIT, well nevermind, I thought that was the Susanna Dickinson House. I guess not. I'm not sure what house that is.

That is the old Casleman-Bull House. It is like 140 years old but our NIMBY city councel would rather give the tax brakes to all those living in 50 year old homes around town calling them 'historic' even though they are 100 years younger than the Casleman-Bull House rather than tax them and use some of that money on this old house. It was moved to its current location in the late 90's I believe.

I think it is going to be a part of the Waller Creek tunnel project, but can't remember what they have planned for it.
