I don't think you'll see similar shelters at any other stations in the valley.
I don't know all of the details, but I've heard that this was a case of the typical station not being good enough for Daybreak, so Kennecott Land designed and paid for better ones.

Some of the station shelters on the N. FrontRunner line have different designs that individual cities paid to improve beyond the typical UTA design as well:

When UTA builds the lines and the accompanying stations they give communities the opportunity to accept UTA's minimum standard for stations or if they would like to make improvements they may but they must pay the cost difference.

I like this TRAX stop. I wish we could see this design for a transit stop scaled down a bit and used as UTA bus stops throughout the Wasatch Front.

That must be a daybreak stop. Only Daybreak would dare to come up with something that unique for this area.

Mehh- not a fan of that particular shelter. I do however like the TRAX shelters in West Jordan, simple red brick with a tasteful timeless arch. Anyone got any pics??

Yeah, I don't like them either. But I'm glad that every stop in the valley isn't exactly the same. It's all a matter of tastes.

Is there any "shelter" in those shelters? There doesn't appear to be any overhang or anything for the people waiting there in the rain.

But she's not afraid to stand in the way of cars or buses.

Evans and several of her neighbors are hoping to derail the Utah Transit Authority's plans for a park-and-ride lot to serve the now-under-construction TRAX station at 11400 South and about 400 East.

They say putting a parking lot in an otherwise residential area would be detrimental to the neighborhood. [article]
The Sandy City council overturned the conditional use permit tonight and sided with the neighbors, so pending UTA's appeal, there will be no parking at the 11400 S. Station.

I know that they money is there and its too late to do anything different about it now, but I can't fathom why UTA is even wasting its time (and precious dollars) on the Draper TRAX extension. The high-minded snobs of Sandy and Draper clearly don't want it, so why can't we just say screw you to them and spend the money somewhere else???

Anyway, I hope that stupid woman has commuters parking in front of her house and trampling on her flowers every day because she was so opposed to UTA putting in a parking lot.

Agreed. I am not a fan of parking lots unless they are located at a transit stop, and ironically, that's what people are protesting against!

I think when it's done I'm going to ride it from 114th S and "accidentally" park drive on her lawn while parking.

I'm not defending the Sandy residents against the 114th south parking but the argument that they have been using makes some sense. They have been asking why build a station at 114th south with a small parking lot and then build another station at 118th south. Other than downtown, is there a need for stations so close together.

The 118th south is on 7th east and has a big area for a parking lot.

Overall, I don't see the Draper trax extension as being worth it unless they carried it all the way to South Mountain. I guess we will see what happens.

If pics of Viaduct can be sexy S.P., then those are very sexy pics indeed.

Do you think they will open traffic on the two south side lanes of the viaduct when it is completed and then work on the two north lanes? Or do you think they will wait until all four lanes are completed before they allow traffic across the viaduct?

Can you save me a spot?

Starting June 9, 2011 Delta will commence seasonal non-stop service from SLC to MCI.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salt_Lake_City_International_Airport

...though wiki for MCI indicates year-round non-stop service commencing June 10, 2011...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_City_International_Airport

...and according to Delta's website, there will be multiple flights with a mix between Skywest and mainline flights. The one main flight will utilize an A320 while Skywest will utilize an RJ700.

It's my understanding that traffic will open up this summer on the current finished segment of the bridge while the other segment for TRAX will not be finished for some time.

Haha. Viaduct porn is indeed a slippery slope. Be careful not to let it snare you in its net. I have succumbed to its lure and my personal relationships have suffered greatly .

I think I like the more "open" look that the Daybreak station has to it. This one is cool, but it feels like being trapped in a futuristic shoe-box. I like how the Daybreak version has the two sides seperated - it makes it feel more open. Then again, I am begining to think that it will be quite chilly in the winter to wait at that train stop Maybe that's just because I've lived in Brazil so long...

Ahh, that's better...
