Great pics. I liked Pittsburgh when I visited 20 years ago but the skyline hasn't changed a bit. Wish they would start building more skyscrapers.

volguus blasphemes. the market square primanti's is standard issue; i'd like to see the redo an hour before a pirates game on a weekday.

the upmc sign on the usx tower is horrible, the new sign on one oliver plaza is horrible, and whatever it is they're doing to the mellon building is horrible. c'mon pittsburgh, stand up to the nonsense.

at any rate, nice coverage. i've always loved that town, and i'm overdue a visit there.

Pittsburgh has to be one of the most underrated cities in the country. Thanks for the tour!

Cool tour, I'm especially liking the neon bright paint up against the brick in Mexican War Streets.

I like these a whole bunch. I agree that Pittsburgh is visually fascinating. The hills add a lot of character, but I'll bet they're a challenge for winter driving.

My lord. These pictures brought a tear to my eye (figuratively speaking). I've always thought the skyline was one of the best, for small cities. However, I never realized how beautiful the streets, neighborhoods, and architecture were. This has now jumped to 2nd place, after NYC, for cities to visit

Thank you! I've been ranting like a fool about this crap on the Pittsburgh development thread forever now... finding minimal agreement with my views on the tacky, oversaturation of corporate lettering adorning Pittsburgh's buildings.

You are a man of taste and integrity, Sasso.

Correct, it is the flag of Castille and Leon. It is not a county or city flag.

It is considered to be the first flag flown on American territory, as it was the flag that Christopher Columbus flew.

The Boy Scouts of America Flag Plaza is where that photo was taken. They always fly the Stars & Stripes, commonwealth, city, and Boy Scouts flags, along with an historic precursor to the current American flag, which they rotate throughout the year.

Nice shots, Cirrus. I like the closeups of the statues at the top of the Park Bldg. If there was a ever a prime candidate for historic renovation, that building is it.

It's not so bad! The trick is to pinball off of the other cars around you to get to your destination.

From this January:

Er, following this policy will severely restrict your mobility in Pittsburgh. The entire city is hilly side streets.

Good luck and godspeed.
