I think Downtown needs a first class MOVIE THEATER
(You can stone me later).

• It can be built on the block of Commerce, Bibb, and Lee.
• It should be a 7 -8 story building and the complex should take up most of the block.
• The entrance to the theater should be on the corner of Commerce and Bibb.
• Only the ticket counters and concessions should be on the ground floor.
• The Movie theaters should be on the second floor and can be reached via escalator or elevator.
• The entrance to a hotel would be on the corner of Commerce and Lee.
• Their would be a restaurant between the hotel and the movie theater.
• There could be a combination of restaurants and shops on the ground floor of Bibb street.
• There could be a combination of restaurants and shops on the ground floor of Lee street.
• The entire ground floor should be glass because one of the things I like most about ZaZa’s and The Deli is how open they are. They are usually filled with people and you can see it from the street. It always looks like an event is going on and makes you excited to go there.
• The upper floors could be the rooms of the hotel.
• The city can build a parking garage in the Rear of the complex with entrances on Bibb and Lee street .

I found these pictures of the CineDom in Germany on the following site. I think something similar to this would be cool. But only 8-12 screens.

@Thedarkone1977: A million times yes! That first picture even kind of looks like downtown Montgomery. Copy and paste that building into downtown and I think it would be a hit. It needs to be a "go big or go home" deal, though. Something that gets the people talking about Montgomery, more importantly downtown. "Have you seen that new movie theater in downtown Montgomery? That place is awesome! I can't wait to go there." instead of "Did you know downtown has a movie theater now? Me either... I think it's just a couple of screens. Probably no where to park. Meh."

I agree with everything you said nayrlladnar.

A movie theater would help all downtown business.

• A first class movie theater would be a bigger boom to downtown than the BISCUITS.
• You never see a standalone movie theater. Retail businesses and Restaurants always comes along with it.
• It would bring thousands of new people to downtown weekly (the entire year) looking to spend money.
• Most people who go to the movies go to dinner and shop before or afterwards.
• A movie theater is a great way to bring young people to downtown (Library, QuestPlex, Skateboard park, the Riverwalk, and [Hopefully in the future] the Park across the River).
• Hotel stayers will have another entertainment option.

Thanks OCA REP. I've wanted to attend for weeks now but I've had TBall practice on every thursday since the meetings started. We don't have any practice this week so I will be there.

I still believe it too, but put it along Coosa Street.

Thedarkone1977, I've always believed in putting a movie theater downtown again. And that example would be a perfect link from the Alley to the new Library and Questplex.

Chattanooga would probably be a better model for a downtown theater in Montgomery. Although, I do like the idea of it being more iconic like the one you've posted. The theater in Chattanooga was done as a public/private venture that included an attached parking deck and as the northern hub of the their downtown bus routes.

When I was doing Movie Theater searches, I saw the Chattanooga theater while it was under construction and I liked it also. I'm with you, I don’t think it would be as iconic as a smaller version of the Cinedom but I don't know if you can get all the investors needed to do a grand development as the one I described. The Chattanooga movie theater does have three of the thing that would make a downtown Montgomery Theater a success. It's on a main street, the glowing excitement lights, a open front so the excitement inside can show outside and a parking garage. But if you could get the right developer (Example: The people who developed East Chase) it could be a great project. I think it would have to be more than just a movie theater for the city to build a parking garage. And it wouldn't be a giveaway because the city would make the parking garage money, sales taxes, and property taxes (Millions of dollars a years).

And Jefferson Pointe is the name of the shopping center(like Eastchase). The city is actually Fort Wayne.
