Not to mention Germans(albeit oldones) LOVE canada!

The selling point of Canadian culture is that there is none, but rather Canada is a melting pot of various different cultures, and people want to experience it all in one nice bundle.
Oh yeah, Germans LOVE Canada, they love the lakes, mountains, wide open spaces.. They could give a flying f*ck about our boring cities.

I mean, think about it.. just think about it for one minute.

I lived in Europe for 12 years (London), and Canadian cities are far more engaging and interesting than their German counterparts. To be honest, Berlin's the only city in Germany that wouldn't bore me to tears.

Really? I guess being from England makes you an expert on all of Europe. So I guess that in German cities you have to: drive 5 km's, before 6,8,9, 10 pm to buy a drink? You can't grab a bottle of wine and hang out with your significant other in a park without worrying about the police busting you? You have to line up for an hour or more to get into a 'beer tent' at a festival/concert because watching a band and having a drink in your hand at the same time is just too much responsibility for one person?

Certain things just don't make sense in this anal-retentive country. As if we're not boring enough, do we really have to underline the fact?

Look, this thread is for Canadian Transit. Your post (#616) seems to have gotten eveyone off track, myself included.

OK then: We're 20-40 years behind most of the rest of the world in transit infrastructure, including many 3rd world/developing nations. Not to mention Madrid Portugal..

There's plenty of impressive stuff to do in Toronto, you just need to not be already convinced that there isn't anything to do.
With a stubbornly closed mind I could say Montreal's boring, or Chicago's unimpressive, etc.

Ahhh yes, yet another off-topic habsfanman rant. Obviously with undertones about how simply AWFUL Toronto is.

Seriously, why haven't mods done anything about this guy? It's only once every few weeks I guess, but pretty ridiculous nonetheless.

Madrid and Portugal, the two third world countries with far superior transit systems than Canada also enjoy 40% unemployment for their youths. Which is why their youngings are coming here to make big money paychecks. I guess we have to take their bratty snotnose kakalaka kids here so we can get our skyscrapers built.

By the way they did't come here to ride our subways, they came here to get a job.

Madrid is not a country. I participate in building skyscrapers here in Vancouver. I have yet to see snot nosed kids building skyscrapers.

What do you do, if you don't mind me asking?

Um, your xenophobia aside (not going to touch it), I'd propose Montreal presents more of a seen it done it situation than Toronto does for a European.

Why would a European want to come to North America for a potential retread of French culture? They're certainly not going to want to go so they can have witty conversations with a bitter 50 year old anglophone whose only point of interest is his psychotic obsession with Toronto.

Now Montreal is a nice place, but you really got to stop with this rivalry thing, it's embarrassing for you. No one in Toronto cares about it.

Obviously you get drunk once a week, it's clock-work really, come on here post your crap and slink away. What surprises me however is that you aren't banned yet, since you've received multiple warnings for your trolling and quite opening I'll point out. What also surprises me is that most people here have the good manners not to respond in kind to your crap (when frankly, it would be so easy, just not very polite).

Isaidso is correct. God love Berlin but even there, Germans are the most anal retentive people in the world. Where else would people actually wait for the light to change to green on a deserted street at 3 o'clock in the morning and then correct you if you dare cross against it. They do have a nice extensive metro system however.

Haha exactly. And Spain isn't a third world country, not even close. A struggling economy sure, but it's a rich country in every sense. The public realm and metro system in Madrid impressed the hell out of me.

Since you're a Londoner, I'll put this in terms you'll easily understand. You must be having a laugh mate!

In order to keep this on topic, let's take a look at one of your claims; Canadian cities are far more engaging. Considering how many people do not have access to vehicles (i.e. the young, elderly, and impoverished) in Canadian cities, which are without a doubt auto-oriented, how can they be more engaging than their German counterparts who are accessible to almost their entire populations.

Kids and seniors can easily and conveniently traverse across German cities using public transport. When I grew up in Calgary, it would take me hours to get to my bestfriend's house unless I got a ride from my parents.

Just leave it be. Someone from Madrid clearly said something negative about TO so Caltrane now has a vendetta against the entire "country".

Its about what I would expect really.

I don't have a vendetta against Madrid. But they seem to be masters of building world class subways which put Toronto's transit to shame. Which they do... Unfortunatly these fools can't make jobs for their kids, so they need to ship them offshore to Canada to packup our subways, with their kakalaka nonsense. Anyways, at least we have our priorities straight here, don't ever say you dont live in a great country here, where there is fiscally responsible subway expansion.
