Nothing that $500K of lights can't fix!

Did I totally miss any news on one of the projects listed in the article? This would be located on the land currently used as a surface parking lot beside the Galaxy Theatre.

PROJECT: NOT YET NAMED

Developer: Tonko Realty Advisors Ltd.

Location: Corner of 19th Street and 2nd Avenue, across the street from River Centre

Size: Between 150,000 and 250,000 square feet, may be in excess of 10 storeys high

Cost: Not available

Construction: No fixed date

Doors open: No fixed date

What makes the project special?: "The site immediately north gives us the opportunity to build another office tower to complement River Centre that will be anywhere from 150,000 to 250,000 square feet."

-Rob Proud, company principal

I just looked out my window and it's still there. I am guessing they will move it sometime on the weekend when traffic is a little lighter.

First I have heard about this project. I do remember there was talk of a strip mall on the east side of the parking area. Some info on it here >> http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...postcount=5335

I found the 'contradiction' in the article interesting. It talks about the pent up demand and incredibly low occupancy for Class A space. It sites examples of buildings recently completed that were then fully leased, and refers to demand that others 'may not be aware of'. YET...we have the two7five Second projcect developer saying they are not proceeding until they have interested tennants....maybe someone needs to hook them up with the 'unknown demand' that is out there!!! My feeling is that if 275 does not get up and finished before the RL project starts, they will have completely missed their opportunity.

I realize it's easy to be disappointed and complain in their lack of action when it does not involve any of MY own money....still....I wish they could exhibit a bit more faith and optimism in the potential of their property to be a big success and great addition to Saskatoon's downtown core.

This is the first I've heard of this one as well. Good news. Though I'm sure this plan for the site is longer-term for Tonko.

Also, can't wait to see these outstanding finishes on Ken Achs' "Icon Building."

Not sure we will actually be able to "see" the finishes, as he may be referring to the interior finishes used in the building being high end and unique?? Either way, he has a reputation for doing first class projects, so I am sure it won't be a disappointment!

I'd seen it in some of Tonko's early promotional packages for the one that is about to begin construction. It looked just like the one that's going to be built on the south side of 19th, but twice as tall.

I want to frame that Star Phoenix page. Damn, that's a lot of projects.

Unfortunate that most lack height, but damn, 750,000 sq ft of office space is ridiculous.

Is there a link to any information on this proposed project by Tonko? Couldn't find anything on their website. Thanks.

I've heard it is going to be mostly white stucco to match the adjoining modern press building...

As a current Exec Office Admin student, the article in the StarPhoenix about all this development downtown looks very promising.

As much I want to give Ontario the leg-up, there's just too much competition for a decent position the province.

I look forward to finding out about the more future developments. Hopefully 2seven5 can hit the ground running

Another generalized, very non specific and uninformative River Landing project status update.

'It will be started...some time and we're going to finish....some time"

What's new..

Just thought all the Saskatoon History Buffs would be interested to see the "History of Saskatoon in Photographs" book that's on Google Books
