But the construction crew just got more Bud Light/Burger King/etc. money. If that's not American I dont know what is.

Shouldn't there be a handicap ramp installed? I think ADA requires it. If so, I'm pretty sure that pole is in the way.

There are ramps, it just looks like there isn't because they haven't completed it yet. There's a gap between the roadway and the curb. That's something that they do last to make sure everything is flush and seamless.

That gap looks like it's left there for the truncated dome bricks that go on the ramps for the blind.

Sounds like a great idea. However, I had a conflict last Thursday and have plans tonight too. I did go ahead and e-mail Tyler a list of my desires since this evening they are discussing "brand Brainstorming" to determine which national, regional, local brands you would like to see set up shot in Montgomery.

I made it to the Idea Factory last night and met some wonderful people with great ideas for downtown. Some already live downtown or have bought homes near it lately. And you know, we all noticed that this seems a lot different and more exciting than all of the development discussions of the past.

The next Idea Factory will be two weeks from now on a bus tour to Atlanta to visit some neighborhoods near downtown where ideas that worked will be discussed and possibly incorporated into old and new neighborhood plans around downtown Montgomery. I forgot the exact date but the cost is $40 for anyone that wants to go.

BTW, I talked to Chad and gave him some ideas to write down. He has some cool ideas for the city himself. It's kinda' hard to imagine that our old forum buddy is now the head of the Development Department for the city of Montgomery.

Actually, this looks like there is going to be some paving overlay. The gap between the edge of pavement and front of curb is for pavement widening. These existing lanes must not be the typical 12' lanes.

Gap was probably the wrong descriptive word for me to use at what I was referring too. I was looking at the void of concrete where the telephone poll is protruding, that's probably reserved for the truncated dome pavers. I didn't even notice in the gap of missing asphalt along the curb edge.

Not sure I can make it. Also for those that visit Atlanta frequently, checkout Old 4th Ward area. Its before Little 5 Points. Old 4th Ward won't be on the bus tour but its worth walking around next time you visit. It's in the early stages of redevelopment so you will see an area in process. Can give some good ideas for Montgomery. Eat at Jacks Pizza and Wings too.

I love reading MBJ each month where you read a lot of interesting tidbits that you probably would never hear of or read in the traditional news outlets. Like, at one time in the past, David Bronner wanted to transform Dexter Avenue into shoppes with outlet stores and restaurants, but someone (at Aronov) talked him out of it...

Ouch! Those seats don't look any more comfortable than the seats in the current City Council Chamber. But I am anxious to see refurbishment take place in this historic auditorium...

I think a development similar to one of these would be great on Maxwell Boulevard across from Overlook park. It would make a great lead-in to the Renaissance Hotel.

I was on the OK City development page and that's a city Montgomery city officals should take a trip to see. They have come a long way since the bombing in 1996 and Montgomery has come a long way since that bombing that was Emory Folmar. There developement page has alot of the things they have going on listed along with pictures.

Someone on this page once recommended taking a look at Greenville, SC and I did. They are also a city Montgomery should take a trip to see (I say that because of the Austin trip, which I have no problem with). That’s a happening city that I think Montgomery can take a lot from.
But don’t read me wrong, I think the Strange administration is doing a great job and that's coming from a life long Democrat.
