EnerJet had better hope for something...They recently dumped both 737-700's and have leased a 737-800 in hope of securing something in the sun department.Currently they operate for Suncor operating from YEG and YYC to the YMM area...

Air charter leader lands back in Edmonton

Sunwest Aviation to launch service from international

Sunwest Aviation, Western Canada’s largest air charter company, has landed back in the city it left in 2008.

The Calgary firm will now station a Lear 35 jet at the International Airport, a move made possible following its recent merger with Edmonton-based HALO Jets. This is the second time in the past three months that a firm has decided to base an aircraft here.

“We have Edmonton clients, and we would fly aircraft in from Calgary. With this move we are now more dedicated to focusing on the Edmonton market,” charter sales manager Geoff Carlyle said Thursday as the firm hosted an open house at the City Centre Airport for potential corporate clients

I dont know what, if anything, is happening with port alberta. apparently they have a Board of Directors and have hired a CEO, but whoever these people are they should be embarassed with their piece of shit website. Try checking out the news stories?
If their website is any indication of what Port Alberta is, or will be, we probably should not be getting our hopes up.

Winnipeg's Centre Port isnt just moving ahead, they are actually building. They have a Business Plan, Annual Reports, Newletters, Board of Directors that ACTUALLY MEET and make decisions, staff and legislation http://web2.gov.mb.ca/laws/statutes/ccsm/c044e.php
Port Alberta has been recognized as an integral driver for our region by the Capital Region Board in its growth plan - The City of Edmonton's Municipal Development Plan The way we Grow which is the General Plan that sets the tone for planning documents in the City. But there does not appear to be any organization or structure Port Alberta. If any of you have attended the Beer and Bull sessions, you probably get the sense that there is no direction, no plan, no action, no leadership, no commitment and no movement.

sorry for the rant.. just venting. What is frustrating is there is recognized potential, and so much to gain in terms of diversifying our economy. But it just seems like nobody has the willingness to make it happen, and in the meantime, others are capitalizing.

Before that, snags in the supply chain and labour disputes caused numerous delays.

^I believe one of the major issues is how much land is being dedicated for urban residential uses. The Capital Region Board is not in support of the County adding more urban residential areas given their population growth projections outlined in the Capital Region Growth Plan. The CRB contests that they have enough land to accommodate growth in the County and with the recently approved East Vistas plan, they don't need that type of land use. And I would agree with them. Why add more urban residential areas outside of established built-up communities (south Edmonton, Beaumont, Leduc).

Those numbers are expected. Considering Edmonton has not seen a major increase the amount of seats. So a small increase is fair. Hopefully the fall-spring period this year will see some new flight announcements!

Was out at YEG today, new tower is getting tall.... hotel site is in site prep. New terminal is looking pretty good, but a little bland on the NWC as you ramp down.

More expansion on route as it appears one of the exsisting FBO's will be announcing a major expansion in the coming weeks.
