I can confrim that the above is not true.

Great news about the restaurant, unfortunately it won't be open in time for this summer season. It also means the end of the bake sales every Saturday.

Thanks for the warm welcome. My place doesn't look directly east, so I won't be able to get any high-angle perspectives on the James or the other construction in that direction until I get to know my neighbours.

Here's a shot from my balcony about 90 minutes ago.
Great shots SEFC. Any chance of a shot facing West? I promise not to ask for a view facing south ;-)

Also, sooner or later you're going to get a shot of SFUVancovuer doing his fortnightly rounds.

SFUVancouver's incredible progress shots really helped build my excitement about the area and the decision to buy in SEFC.

Here are a few shots from our place.

More or less west: False Creek to Granville Bridge

At twilight

Twilight again, NW. Davie Street runs straight up the hill

This is the MOON setting at dawn a couple of weeks ago over 4th Ave.

And since you didn't ask here's one facing south to City Hall. Above the treetops, straight up Yukon, you can see the top of the dome at QE Park.

Thanks.
I've always liked that view up Davie as you're driving over the Cambie Bridge. It's a "big city" perspective view.

SFUVancouver seems to never show any love for the little dome ... just the big one

so here is a couple snaps from the Science World project that seems to get little attention but is very much needed.

all pics by ME ... hosted on pbucket.

and pics of a new canopy type thing going up on the seawall at OV

the big dome with some more canopy action

one of the new False Creek clusters developing

the LD is more or less 100% ready ... except for being filled out ... but flooring, lighting, painting, etc ... is finished. they could move into the store and open up in 30 days or less if they wished to by my estimation

and last but not least .... is it just me of do the screens and connections .... look a little cheese ... ? I mean could the plugs and cords not be semi covered up or ran elsewhere to a place inside the suites?

It would be nice to see some more creative lighting on the Science World dome. Or is that already in the works?

well i mean they switched the lights to colored led and that allows the golf ball to create some sort of imagery. and i remember seeing them rotate through colored designs on the dome as the lights were turned on at night.

^ Wow, looks great! That's the kind of bold design this city needs more of. And I'm digging the 60s brutalist motif.

Any ideas what is going to be built on the site between Cook & Columbia and 1st & Second?

I had a look at http://vancouver.ca/commsvcs/southeast/rezoning/index.htm (#5 in the diagram) and it seems that some rezoning docs were filed but I haven't seen anything recently.

It looks like this block is the only one on 1st that is currently not planned for construction. Going west to east along 1st it looks like Maynards, Exchange, Foundry, James, ???, Wall, Pinnacle.

I haven't heard anything about the building for that site (#5) either. Early renders showed a tall block (taller than others in the area) with a bridge spanning to a neighbouring tower. There should be a massing render earlier in this thread.

There was a full page ad in the Sun over the weekend and e-mails were spammed out on Monday.

There was also a full pager in the Georgia Straight a few weeks ago.
