Well and Devon didn't seek to be the tallest. They had their floorplan and added floors to get to the square footage they needed to meet their needs. It happened to be this tall (and infact they have removed a few floors, and taken the floor height of most floors down), so it's smaller than it was going to be. That's what happens when you exit 6 buildings and consolidate into one....while at the same time, expand. They didn't have all of the 6 buildings, but they had a significant presense in each.

Part of the Devon Energy Center is officially occupied and open for business. You can read about "THE WELL" at the link below- this is Devon's very nice in house gym for employees, located in the parking garage structure.

Some new photos from PROJECT180's flickr. P180 is the project to rebuild/relandscape every street and sidewalk in downtown OKC, and also rebuild the 18-acre Myriad Gardens Park. The park has been the "front yard" of downtown since it was built, and now they are redesigning it so that it is even more compatible with festivals, events, and urban life. So here is an idea of the front yard of Devon tower.

Say goodbye to this classic skyline view (ALONZO ADAMS PHOTOGRAPHY):

Say hello to the new version of that view. Devon Tower is massive. The glass of Devon goes nicely with the new glass on the IM Pei-designed Crystal Bridge.

The park should be open again by April, they have a LOT of sod to lay.

The park is going to look a lot more urban and formal.

I am one of those weirdos that liked the old gardens, so i hope i like the new layout as much. It's going to take 10 years for everything to grow to what the final look is.

It's just the name for the amphitheater in the park, which is in the lake. Not sure how it's silly. They do concerts and theater performances there (Shakespeare in the Park).

I'm really glad to see Myriad Gardens get a makeover. It's a very cool place but needed a facelift badly. Though like bomber said it will take some time for it to all grow and look really lush again. If you're in OKC definitely check this out, there are tropical gardens inside the glass tube and gardens all around the lake in the middle of downtown.

Someone told me that and I thought for sure Chicago had one going up that is taller, but sure enough it was Oklahoma City.
