I don't read it as she's particularly advocating the Parkway route, merely rationalizing if it is chosen (electric trains are better than diesel buses) and she does mention that the Byron Richmond alignment would serve more people, and simply informing people that it would cost more and cause more of a disruption. In all fairness she prefaces the points with the fact that not a lot of information is out there to make residents aware of the choices. Leadman only seems to sell the Carling alignment.

I've overheard Leadman suggest too many bizarre opinions in passing for me to even consider voting for her. One time I think she mused that maybe they should ban parking on Richmond Road during rush hour so that it could be used as an extra traffic lane just like Bank Street in the Glebe. Yikes. I completely lost respect for her during the Westboro Station/Golden Ave closure issue.

Alex Cullen, Michel Bellemare and Glen Brooks are all in some danger.

It just got that much more appealing...

I like your comments re: City planning not liking it.

Bellemare is a real enigma.....I can't believe how anybody can get excited by him as a candidate..I had to deal with him twice over the last few years but never actually met him as his position on development applications was given to me via his staff.and I was the applicant of record....repeated efforts to meet with him were thwarted by him.....

I wouldn't lose any sleep if any of the 3 you mentioned are not 1st to the post...any chance that Bedard won't make it one could hope

Never mind Bédard, I'd like to see Monette tossed. Neighbouring councillor Jellet does a better job of advocating for Orleans than does Monette. McRae could do with going as well, but at least she can think for herself. Monette is just an embarrassment - not just for the ward, but for the city. Could you imagine sending him as part of a delegation to some conference somewhere? How the Citizen could endorse him I do not know.

Dang dang dang

Bob Monette already has 70% of the vote from the first 5 polls!

For mayor, Jim Watson is in the lead with twice that of O'Brien. Doucet is in third at 13%.

Capital ward has David Chernushenko and Isabel Metcalfe in a dead heat.

Marc Taylor is leading Cullen in Bay (44% to 27%).

Glen Brooks looks to be on his way out, as does Bédard!

I signed some papers to have a relative vote for me in my stead since I'm away at college in another city. I voted for Jim Watson (he's done it before, is experienced, seems at least more rational and less of an idiot than O'Brien, has good ideas and good proposals for reform) and Katherine Hobbs simply because Leadman frustrates me deeply.

Looks like Watson is the new mayor... Wilkinson, Cullen, Bedard, Leadman, Jellet, and Brooks all in danger or fairly close

Bellemare is in trouble too.

But the result I'm seeing on the Citizen's page for Bédard is odd: he has 0 votes with 76% of the polls in. Even fringe candidates get some votes...

Edit: The Citizen must be having problems here, because the City's page has him at ~46% and Fleury just behind.

Turnout doesn't look too good. I'm guessing it will come in at about 250k votes for the mayoral vote. That's less than half of the eligible voters.

That said, my brother lives in another country - for five years! - and he's still being counted as a voter.

Nailbiter for Bédard: with just one poll left, he leads Fleury by all of 8 votes.

Looks like you got your way on Bédard... Fleury has won by 88 votes, pending a possible recount.

Of the other 3 I mentioned, Bellemare, Brooks and Cullen, all are out.

So wait, does this mean Katherine Hobbs did not get in?

yeah, Monette is a real good ole boy who comes across as being just a man of the people, but you are right I wouldn't want him standing in for the Mayor if Obama or the Queen came for a visit.

Looks like Bedard and Bellemare are out...I think Bellemare didn't consider his opponent to be strong enough...but as this website states, Tierney can be pretty tireless in getting what he wants..see October 19th posting in particular.
