The role of a mayor isn't to fulfill an egotistical "vision" for a city. Your a manager, and you identify priorities and act on them.

The truth is the opinions of people on this forum make up a small minority with extremist ideals - and a lot of you don't even live in Calgary and you can't guarantee that someone from California that's jobless is checking out things in Calgary and happens to cast a vote in the poll. Already there are people here that are resorting to insults that are only used on this forum - inside jokes around here. To me it doesn't come across as a sign of political influence/might - rather it gives me the impression of a support group.
The comment sections in mainstream media are more representative of the general public's opinion. This forum is not mainstream - but I think we can all agree that mainstream media has more influence than blogs and forums - for now.
For clarity, the point here is that this is a specialty website made up of a relatively small group of voters with strong opinions on certain topics. It is not representative of the general voting public. The attempts to justify waste and the inside jokes are proof to me that there's a lot of denial going on here. Hopefully some of you will take off the pink sunglasses. |
