50% of people polled on the ctv website give council an F, which is a more diverse sample group. Do you think just a couple vocal liberals on ssp is reason for confidence in a bronconnier re-election? [this convo has been had before, and its agreed this place attracts younger people which tend to be liberals/socialists; voter turn out is stronger amongst elder people as well so think about it].

The role of a mayor isn't to fulfill an egotistical "vision" for a city. Your a manager, and you identify priorities and act on them.

McIver is from the "east."

Coming from the guy who is pumping Ron Paul for 2012.

The truth is the opinions of people on this forum make up a small minority with extremist ideals - and a lot of you don't even live in Calgary and you can't guarantee that someone from California that's jobless is checking out things in Calgary and happens to cast a vote in the poll. Already there are people here that are resorting to insults that are only used on this forum - inside jokes around here. To me it doesn't come across as a sign of political influence/might - rather it gives me the impression of a support group.

The comment sections in mainstream media are more representative of the general public's opinion. This forum is not mainstream - but I think we can all agree that mainstream media has more influence than blogs and forums - for now.

For clarity, the point here is that this is a specialty website made up of a relatively small group of voters with strong opinions on certain topics. It is not representative of the general voting public. The attempts to justify waste and the inside jokes are proof to me that there's a lot of denial going on here. Hopefully some of you will take off the pink sunglasses.
Tomorrow, Corndogger.

That lead is really looking insurmountable right about now. If it had been shrinking over time it would be one thing but the percentages are holding pretty steady and lead just keeps growing.

Some of the Alderman results are starting to come in now too.

I am going to be trumpeting this on various forums for weeks to come. And to my parents and in-laws in such cities as Winnipeg and Toronto, who remind me every year that Calgary is full of intolerant redneck bigots and that I really do not fit in here.

I'm curious - the news is saying "first Muslim win of any major office" - don't we have Muslim MLAs/MPs in Canada? Or is that considered a more minor office compared to Mayor? Any chance Rusty is lurking and can comment (he seems to know more about the larger scope here)?

The lead just keeps getting bigger, and bigger, and bigger, and bigger, and bigger...

I'm putting Nenshi at close to 43% by the end of the night.

Naheed should be in the mid teens by now, and with the number of private lawn signs they have out the door there is huge momentum. Within ten points of the front runner before thanksgiving weekend and he should win by 10%, barring any Bradley effect.
Just theory then, quoting to gloat a little. So I predict a ten percent lead in the end.
