Global starts TV coverage at 10. Obviously they didn't want to pre-empt their primetime lineup.

CFCN just reported that some polling stations even ran out of ballots. Is incredible to see the city so engaged in this election.

Anecdotally, I live a couple blocks from a polling station and there was a constant stream of people (many more than normal) walking back and forth all day.

I have quite a bit of respect for all the people who put themselves out there to run for election and those who volunteer and help them. It's fantastic to see the political engagement Calgary has in this election and I do think that all our candidates, whether or not I agree with them, should be respected for putting themselves out there and fighting for their particular vision of a better Calgary. Good on them all!

I totally disagree with that statement. First of all, much more than that is reporting so far and Barb and Ric are pulling farther ahead with every station reporting. Secondly, these leads usually indicate a trend that only gets larger as the time goes on.

I really hope I'm wrong though.

Now Nenshi's staff are already sounding like they lost.

I'm an obsessive election watcher, and I have to respectfully disagree. I've seen way too many elections do the exact opposite. Let's talk when 20% of the polls have reported.

As someone else pointed out to me just now, let's also wait until the NE reports.

Oh, and hardly anyone has reported. I know they say "10%" but that's not by vote count, it's by polls reporting. Supposedly over 110,000 people voted by 4pm today (so the total will be MUCH higher than this), 10% would be 10,000 people. The total numbers so far hardly add up to 1,000. That's not even 1%.

Final PS: the City website has more up to date numbers than Global. They're higher numbers anyway, so I assume that means more accurate at this point.

You also have to look at how the polls report in. Considering there was probably close to 300,000 votes, and they've reported the few polls that only had a couple dozen votes per candidate, its a long time. Some of the bigger polls which could have closer to a thousand + votes in it will take a while to count and report. These initial ones are outliers at best at this point
