I'll be holding my nose and voting for Judy as much as I hate the NDP, her voice, her name and the way she looks but to vote for a plain crook and opportunist like Katz revolts me. If you stand on principles of decency, honesty and integrity then Sam ain't your man.

rrskylar, I agree with everything you said about Sam. I think I'll spoil my ballot and vote Rav Gill.

If I was a betting man - I'd be putting a sizable wager on glasnost and perestroika Judy being the next mayor of Winnipeg. The greatest dose of satisfaction that I will get out of it, is that Sandy Shindleman will no longer be the defacto mayor of Winnipeg.

Bring on the hammer and sickle. I'm ready!

As an aside... Judy's team has to find her smaller (shorter) lecterns, because every time she talks behind one, she looks like the Keebler elf.

Oh grow up. You have two contenders close in the polls, and you are going to be a child and vote for someone who has no chance of even coming close. Pick either Judy and Sam, the lesser of two evils, and call it a day.

noone should ever be forced to vote for someone whos policies they don't agree with. voting for them is tacit approval of what they represent. Sure a third candidate may not win, or have even a significant chance of winning, but given enough votes, ideally it would give the other candidates pause and consider where they failed in reaching said voters.

I guess you believe that nobody should ever vote NDP federally either. Liberals or Conservatives, that is your only choice. That is actually more childish a thought than anything, to me anyways.

I found out a couple weeks ago when talking to one of the school board candidates online that you don't have to vote for all 8 (or however many you guys have to chose), you can vote for just 3 or 4 or none at all, if you want. Since I don't have (and likely never will have) kids in the school system, I'm just going to leave the school trustee section blank. (Since only 10 people are running for it, it's more like "chose the two people you don't want" than "chose the 8 people you do".) In the last election I just voted for women, since I figured women would be more interested in the well being of children than men.

Also, in Manitoba, Ontario and Alberta during provincial elections you can decline the ballot (hand it back to the election officer at the poll and say you decline your vote). Thunder Bay allows this municipally as well, so I am sure Winnipeg does too. These votes are counted as a "none of the above" option. Personally, I think voting should be mandatory and vote declining should be well known or a none of the above option should be on the ballot. Statistically, this is more effective than simply spoiling your ballot or voting for a minor candidate since it actually registers as someone being opposed to all candidates.

Oh no , Sam's a crook , no doubt about it . It's just a question of going from the frying pan into the fire .
Besides , I wouldn't call Sam "right wing" based on his history in office . As near as I can tell he's "no wing" since he hasn't done a damned thing . Still , that's better than spending us into oblivion .

Oh , and it was Filmon and the PCs who drafted and hammered out the details of the PNP even if the NDP wants to take credit for it .

We're in WSD, Ward Three, which is all of the North End, Elmwood and Weston.

They're school trustees. They're all NDP. During our school trustee debate last month, every single one had the same opinion -- "We need more money".

I caught on the news a sample of last nights debate at RRC. At one point the moderator asks the crowd who is in favour of BRT, and you could hear a pin drop in that room. Sam looks out at the crowd and says 'Thank you...' to them as if to illustrate that he has always supported LRT over BRT.

I could be mistaken because I haven't been following this story for a while, but isn't Sam the one who cancelled the original BRT plan, started a new BRT plan (after numerous studies), actually started construction on the BRT plan, and then said he didn't like it and wanted LRT?

Talk about a flip flop. It seems to me that if the current BRT project was converted to LRT at some point in the future, the cost would be in the tens of millions. How can Winnipeg afford this? Hasn't Sam always claimed that he is a businessman not a politician...

I am all for LRT but why did we even waste our time and money doing all these studies and planning for BRT? There is no end in sight to this BS.
