Will it actually get built though? Seems very sophisticated for Edmonton.

I do not have any images yet but you get a glimpse of the condo development at Marina Park/Prince Arthur's Landing.

The colourful lobby is similarly void of life. Where is everybody?

Later that evening, once the rain has dried up, you head out to the rooftop lounge area. Now you remember: everyone is stuck across the street in an interminable line at Burrito Boys waiting just about forever for their order, and that's why you have the place to yourself.

Meanwhile, in alternately rendered universe, it's daytime, and Studio stands tall on Richmond:

If it was another developer who knows, but this developer has a way of moving things forward rather quickly and built out the rest of the block to the right with some of if not the most unique condos/lofts/townhouses in the core.

I suspect we will see it go in spring.

Another project for St. John's.

http://www.dcc-cdc.gc.ca/english/newsletters/2010/August/1008_newsletter_article1.html

Quote:
DCC recently awarded the largest contract in its history for the development of a single building to replace the aging infrastructure at CFS St. John’s.

The contract, worth more than $117 million was awarded to Bird Construction in May to build the facility, do site remediation and demolish the existing buildings (including removing and disposing of hazardous materials), all the while finding space for and relocating the station’s staff for the duration.

The new building will be a four-storey, 28,000 m2 multi-use facility housing vehicle maintenance garages, warehouse space, a gymnasium, medical unit and mess hall, as well as offices. It will replace 13 buildings on the existing nine hectare site in the Pleasantville area of east St. John’s and is being designed and built to meet the LEED® Silver standard. A second project will involve improvements to the roads on and leading to the site, as well as construction of a Military Families Resource Centre.

The main project is complex, since it involves, as Fred Hart, Manager, Operations, St. John’s puts it, “taking a whole base and putting it in one box.” It will be made more challenging by the fact that the majority of construction materials will have to be brought into Newfoundland and that construction trades are in short supply there, due to a hot building market.

The Studio looks neat. Not to crazy on the design of the tower but I do like the ground floor and the interior. My favourite spot would be the roof top lounge. It would be a good place to unwind after a hard day at work. Especially on a warm summer night (NO HUMIDEX). The only thing is that you probably wouldn't be the only up there so maybe it might be not as relaxing as the pictures shows. Unless you are lucky enough to be up there the night everyone decides to go to Burrito Boys across the street.

Montreal is starting to get a lot of highrise residential proposals. Finally starting to catch up with Toronto and Vancouver in this regard.

New proposal by Oxford Properties for a 36 storey office building in Vancouver. It's for a tight site near the harbour behind the Marine Building - http://www.google.com/maps?q=49.287693,+...tings)&ll=49.287693,-123.117622&z=17&t=h

What Danny linked to is the older conceptual rendering for the waterfront buildings, this is what will actually be built:

Source

Condo 1, part of hotel to the right.

Condo 1 on left, hotel on right:

Source

Construction for the hotel and parking structure beings in May or June; for condo 1, whenever they sell 50% of the units (they're estimating May or June); when condo 1 is 100% sold, they will begin sales for condo 2, and once 50% of that is sold, it begins construction. They're guessing by 2013.

11 Charlotte St, Toronto. By Brad J Lamb Developments. Sounds promising.

Info from Urbantoronto's grey and carturo15:

^Under construction and/or completed in the google image above: Glas (by Brad J Lamb), Charlie, Hilton Garden Inn, M5V. Coming soon: Langston Hall, several more King West towers, etc.

I don't know if 35 storeys will fly with the decision makers. There wouldn't be any issue if it included MEC's King St frontage but this is mid block between two avenues.
