It's a second materials elevator. It looks as if it has material staging platforms stacked on top of each other. A neat concept.

Somewhere I read the cladding, aka curtain wall well be delivered to the site in 26' 8" high by 5 foot wide panels. They well not fit in a material hoist.

The tower cranes well probably do steel erection by day and curtain wall by night.

^Doesn't mean they won't. Superstructure be day, curtain wall by night. There's other projects that have done such a thing if they have an aggressive construction schedule, City Center in Las Vegas for example.

The latest progress report from the PA states that the curtain wall well start going up in the 3rd quarter of 2010. If that is the case we well see the first panels by the end of September.

However, the base cladding well probably not start until sometime next year. The cladding is hung from the protection walls and only one small piece if it is up so far. (Small piece on the south east corner)

A considerable amount of work has already been done at night. By night I mean second shift, 3:30pm to Midnight.

I got the answers you guys wanted:

http://www.panynj.gov/wtcprogress/q-a-response-lynda-tollner2.html

Quote:
Q. When will the glass start going in? When will it reach the height of the old World Trade Center? Will we see a growth spurt in the next year, or will progress be steady at the rate we've seen so far? — Bo, New York, N.Y.

A. The glass installation for One World Trade Center will begin in the third quarter of 2010 and be complete in the fourth quarter of 2012. We expect the building to rise quickly this year, now that we are at the point where we are building standard office floors.
That basically means glass will start going up on September 2010-April 2012. Though there will be no outdoor observation deck on One World Trade Center.
