I'm guessing that *Blech* Beige is the natural colour of the fabric when it is finished manufacturing, and letting it be sun-bleached white is cheaper than spending more money having someone paint it (if it can be painted without degrading the material).


Sorta like putting a new copper roof on & let it naturally change to green by weathering. (although some people would want to paint it green so it looks 'right' after installation, and others would re-paint it 'coppery-coloured' every few years to remove the green tarnish).


I have no doubt that the same debate will rage when the new panels for BC Place start getting installed.

Too bad it is not permanent, just the leftover from the MPI event last night.

The West Convention building and its surrounding area is really too 'bare', too much concrete and not enough green plants. Adding flower pot in various locations would make a big difference to the look and feel of the space.

I am glad the laser motion detection device is installed for the cauldron, otherwise it wouldn't last long without any vandalism.

I'd love to see it made a permanent ritual to ALWAYS have floating flower bouquets in that pool. Adds such a nice effect.

As for that sand sculpture, it's intriguing, with all those sea creatures in it. Could it be redone in ceramic, glazed, and given a permanent home near the Convention Centre?

I guess I'm whistling in the dark (I usually do) but one can dream ......

They definitely needs more flowers around Jack Poole Plaza. I really like how they put flowers on the the reflection pool for the 2010 MPI.

The people who create the sand sculpture is by a local company called sandemons (www.sandemons.com). Check out the pictures of their creations at their websites. Amazing.

I agree. I wouldn't want to see any flowers or even any greening of the plaza. If they did, it would then start leaning towards becoming a garden of sorts and not a true plaza. This will likely be the closest we'll get to having a European-like plaza for the next while.
