I agree, pathetic indeed, especially with the huge numbers of passengers to markets like New York, Orlando and overseas like Frankfurt or Hong Kong. A link posted on C2E showed these markets had unreal numbers and it is mind boggling why these routes are not served (
http://www.therouteshop.com/edmonton-airport/). But I guess Calgary can support 2 daily flights to Frankfurt and we can't
Those routes/numbers are:
Florida – Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale
* 25% growth in the last 3 years – Total annual passengers 90,000+ (40,000+ to Orlando, 30,000+ to Miami/Ft. Lauderdale)
New York
* 18% growth in the last three years – 45,000+ annual passengers
Hawaii – Honolulu or Kahului
* 48% growth in the last three years – 86,000+ annual passengers
Asia – Hong Kong
* 37% growth in the last three years – 150,000+ annual passengers
Europe – Frankfurt and Amsterdam
* 10% growth in the last three years – 147,000+ annual passengers
Middle East
* 110% growth in the last three years – 35,000+ annual passengers
