The school must have been built not earlier than the seventies, so it's maybe only thirty to forty years old?

I guess they didn't build it with a future in mind. It's not uncommon in Canada for schools to last over a hundred years if they are built well, maintained properly, and retrofitted, however this one has the look of a temporary structure.
