I paid the flat rate of $44 to get from the airport to South Terwillegar a month ago. The drive was 15 minutes pretty much the whole way on a freeway / highway. I would gladly take the bus to Century Park and then pay $10 to get home on a cab. For $4 more, the cab would have taken me to downtown.

I think the bus service will do well.

^I rarely take a cab anymore for value park is cheaper by a wide margin even if there for a few days.

Just needs the political backbone to get the service going.

Very quiet on the new routes front. Any rumors other than the usual Westjet to NYC?

^What is interesting on the route front is that United and Continental are set to announce their merger on Monday. I don't know if this will help us or hurt us in terms of routes.

Does anyone know why the Thomas Cook flights display a K and L behind their flight numbers to Vancouver and London Gatwick respectively?

From what I've seen on Airliners.net, K stands for outbound flights from the UK, and L stands for flights inbound to the UK.

By the way, I just got back into YEG yesterday on a Thomas Cook A330 from Gatwick after 13 days in the UK.

Good service? Bad service? How does Thomas Cook compare to Air Transat or Air Canada?

I've never been on Air Transat, so I couldn't tell you. Although TC is a charter airline, I can tell you that the service was more or less better than AC's from my experience. Seats are pretty damn narrow, but legroom even in economy appears to be good even for a charter, at about 32-33". I'm 5'7" and unlike my brother, not a very big man, so this poses no real problems for me. But my brother who flew with me is about 6'5" and so he wasn't terribly comfortable in one of the regular seats when we flew to Manchester, but he did manage to get an emergency exit row seat coming home. The seating in TC's A330-200s are configured 3-3-3 in economy, and 2-3-2 in premium. class Even the food was more edible than on AC, as I usually never bother to eat anything AC offers even on long flights.

One thing to watch out for is Row 9 in economy, immediately behind the emergency exit row where my brother sat on during the homeward flight. It is a windowless row - and I had the misfortune to sit in that row, though I had an aisle seat. Remember this is a flight well over 8 hours long! However, having a lovely British couple from Brighton going to YVR sitting next to me, as well as the IFE and a good book made things more bearable for me.

Considering the 14 cancelled flights (to and from), the international numbers would have been about even

Part of EIA's $1-Billion Expansion 2012 Airport Development Program

GATINEAU, QC, May 19 /PRNewswire/ - Searidge Technologies, provider of intelligent video solutions to air navigation service providers (ANSPs) and airports, announced its Air Traffic Control (ATC) - grade Video solution has been selected by Edmonton International Airport (EIA) to enhance tower visibility.

As part of EIA's Expansion 2012 project, the airport is building a new air traffic control tower and office building which will allow the most modern and efficient new air traffic control technologies to be installed on site. The construction equipment and final structure will block Controllers' line of sight to taxiway alpha (a high speed run-off/exit taxiway) and the area adjacent to the taxiway.

Expansion 2012 is a four year, $1-billion project which will add up to 13 new aircraft bridges in a larger terminal that will create efficiencies for business partners and add more options for customer service. "We selected Searidge's ATC Grade video solution because it met both our functional and safety needs today, and had the scalability and flexibility to grow as the needs of our airport evolve. We also valued the company's track record of successfully deploying video systems for both airports and NAV CANADA," says Paul Garbiar, vice president, Infrastructure and Technology, EIA.

^great shot.

I am really liking what I am seeing thus far, but as mentioned before I just hope they retain the original tower.

YEG looks like it's going to be a pretty decent looking place when the dust settles.

^but again, IMO it will lose its only character piece if we take down the best part of the airport, the tower.
