I like the eco-friendliness of the renderings. Notice how they reused stripe shirt girl and her friend.

They have actually reused a lot of the elements. If you go to the source and enlarge the photo's you can spot all kinds of duplicates. The marvels of technology.

I like the overall feeling it gives me and I want to go there this afternoon.

Is that a crane at the university in the background of the 3rd pic?

I agree, Saskatoon really needs an iconic bridge. Being 'the city of bridges', saskatoon has yet to have a modern, 21st century looking bridge. Having an oustanding pedestrian bridge could possibly draw more and more people to the whitewater park. Another concrete slab will make it seem like any other city!

I would like to see them put in the additional 20 million to build a stunning pedestrian bridge like in Winnipeg. I think it would just seal the deal and make it magnificent. As well it would be iconic for Saskatoon AND be part of a growing modern Canadian architecture.

Anyone know anything?

I heard yesterday that J & H on 8th are moving out (not sure whether temporarily or relocating) but that "Cowboys" (the bar) is moving into that location once they vacate it.

Status of 200 Block of 1st Avenue South

I took a few quick snaps with my cell phone of the current status of the old Famous Players Theatre being transformed into offices and the parkade next store with its giant "Space" signage:

Anyway know more about the status of this work?

I wish they would demolish that ugly peace of *r*p. That building is an eye sore.

And wouldn't it be better to locate the pedestrian bridge somewhere NOT on top of the weir? The weir itself is currently a tourist attraction and an attraction for locals. Why cover it up with a bridge, even a nice bridge? The bridge would be better located elsewhere with a view of everything INCLUDING the weir.

Nice work! You are correct! It will all happen fairly soon, early summer!

They must be getting close on this. ICR has it for lease on their site.

Ahh yes, I heard that about Ryly's/Tequila too.

I'd much rather the Pat becomes Cowboys, because it's quite popular in other cities (Calgary in particular, or at least it was.), and the Pat is a dive. I doubt that'll be good for the Longbranch though. Oh well. Would just move the same crowd downtown.

Good for her.
I know this was posted a few days ago but I just got around to reading the article. She brings up a good point and good for her for sticking up for what she believes in. It's true there are frickin Tims cups and trash everywhere.

This is a really black eye on Saskatoon and our city council and makes us look so out of touch especially in this day and age of environmental awareness. We're the only large centre in Canada that doesn't have a mandatory recycling program. Yes there's Curbside Recycling but there are a lot of people who wouldn't pay the extra money unless they were forced to.

City council should really get on this and forgo all the usual bs like public consultations and other useless studies. If they can find 1.6 million to increase our snow removal, they can find money to do this.

Btw, I checked out Cavas yesterday, it's a really nice place inside with a seperate wine tasting area. I used to live in Spain and it reminded me a lot of all the Bodegas I used to visit.

It looks like the corner retail space on the ground floor of the KG has been leased. The "For Lease" signs are down and coverings in the windows... looks like some finishing work is being done inside.

Anybody have any idea as to what's going in there?
