I agree with LOA 44 I feel AC has a superior product than WJ in that the Airbus is much more comfortable. And yes at time AC Flight attendants seem a bit off putting WJ has grown so much that they are starting to become a bit bitchy.

Came through YEG last night, the expansion was complete completely lit up and looks pretty good. Would have stopped and got some shots but after 9 hour of travel, needed to get home.

One rumour from up north has been going around. Canadian North May not make it to the end of the year. Also they are acting as AC ground service in Iqaluit when AC Starts service next week.

Maybe you might have that mixed up with the 737-700, which has windowless seats in 8A and 8F. According to seatguru.com, WS's 737-800s have no windows by 11A and 11F. The -600s are worse, according to that site - no windows for 6A, 6F, 8A and 8F.

I too actually looked at seatguru and seatexpert before choosing seats and they're both wrong. I specifically looked for the windowless seats on my way down to seat 22F and there is no way seats in the 11th row are the windowless ones.

Hey Tuffy do you have any news on this? I am curious where this airport will be located and if they are talking about perhaps Tulum as anything closer might be too close to CUN. Saying that, there is an airport in Cozumel so who knows if the distance is an issue. And i assume by intercontinental, they mean international. I am also wondering what % of people head south from CUN airport as opposed to the city of Cancun. I bet a flight or two could easily be supported from Alberta.

ASUR is planning the airport to be near or around Playa del carmen about 1 hour south of Cancun city.Alot of Canadians travel south of Cancun to the Riviera Maya.

We live in Akumal and thats in the Riviera.You can bet there will be flights from most Canadian cities to the new Airport.

At one point of the article, the CEO mentions flying jets out of the City Centre airport.

If they DO fly small jets out of the Island, the mayor of Toronto (not to mention the thousands of people who live down there) is going to flip out.

Just watched a story on Global Edmonton News - Air Canada just launched a Calgary-Tokyo flight. The tall foreheads made the usual noises about Calgary now being an elite-class city (lol) and attracting travelers from all over Alberta (including Edmontonians I presume), Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

This appears to leave One World without a Canadian carrier for now. IF Porter growths into something more substantive as they are musing then they could provide the Canadian link...if Porter grows and One World survives. Next life.

Some may argue that if WJ simply feeds passengers to non-Canadian airlines without flying the routes themselves, this will gut the Canadian airline industry (operations, maintenance etc.) and create the spectre of higher prices for consumers from US and other global carriers long term as they "grab and go".

It will be interesting to see how YYC benefits from the Delta code share (with KLM) and whether WJ do anything to promote a flight to AMS from YEG. More importantly will they fly it? Will WJ care or simply route passengers through YYC?

There was a line in that story regarding the YYC - Japan flight. Maybe EIA wants to deflect some of the press this weekend regarding that flight by putting out the NY story.
