Exactly, and since most people aren't going to care enough to find out for themselves it's up to the media to fix that problem. They need to stop focusing so much on the negative things and shed some light one what is being done...but that's for the news for ya right? Almost always being negative.

When I do an estimate for a project I always check weather history. For example, how many days, on average, does it rain in June, or how many days does it snow/rain in February. I simply add so many days to the schedule, and budget, to compensate for lost time due to weather.

The folks building Tower One did the same thing.

I've run into many New Yorkers who seem to be proud of the fact that they've never been to the top of the Empire State Building or visited the Statue of Liberty. These places are too "touristy" for them. I imagine that the WTC site is the same thing for them.

I thought it was because all tall things remained at ground level zero, i mean street level. But this was everytime my personal interpretation, cause i never knew from where that term came, which, because this fact, i never repeated spread which meant to me nothing close to be so called so, but most people suddenly liked the term like using as same proportionality like for soft drinks: Please give me a Coke..

That's also true and very rediculous. If we're so proud to be New Yorkers we should embrace our landmarks and be proud of those also. A lot of places don't have the things that we (or at least most of us) take for granted. Not being cocky but a lot of people would love to be in our place..the New Yorkers that hate tourism and everything else about the city so much should move elsewhere.

So will everyone else, eventually. It's the World Trade Center, no question about it. But ats long as it's under construction, most people will still refer to it as ground zero, or what's under construction at ground zero.

the base by it self can be considered a building, i cant wait in 2 years you can see the building from miles away.

I got one quuick question, How are they going to cover up the red color of the steel to make the building the same color as it is on the completed design pictures of it?

I'm pretty sure that 1WTC will be visible from miles away in less than 2 years, but of course if everything will go by schedule with no big delays which i doubt will happen.

and yeah i was wondering too about the red steel, how are they going to cover that up

I still call it by both names (Ground Zero and WTC) depending what I'm talking about. I think the Ground Zero name will always have a place.

^ probably silver paint. It has easy technics in this direction today after all already done, but needs impermeabilization first, cause this color is the weak but necessary layer of corrosion in the steel, which in same way protect it inside, i heard some time that.

What impress me most is not the building itself, but those huge cranes and quantity in site.

You know, as a kid, I never really paid much attention to the World Trade Center. They were just buildings that I knew should've been there. When they were gone and you look back through pictures at how majestic they were, such architecture and all the man hours it took to make it the way it was, you start to realize...damn....how could I let something like this slip past me?

I live in New Jersey now, and I suppose if the old WTC were still standing, I would've taken the easy way out and taken the PATH directly to the WTC, instead of Penn Station. By now I would have loved the complex. That's what some New Yorkers lack.

Most New Yorkers did love the WTC, same as they do the Empire State. There are a lot of things in New York that are taken for granted, not just the iconic skyscrapers. Most New Yorkers see the city as the way things are supposed to be, rather than just a fact of where they are. It's only on moving to some other part of the country that realization sets in. That being said, a lot of New Yorkers do take in the "touristy" sites. For example, despite what many people say, 42nd Street is still a huge draw for New Yorkers, although obviously there are tourists there as well. But I was always aware of the Empire State and the World Trade Center. I remember early on when I realized that the Empire State wasn't as tall as the Twins, and feeling a little disappointed. But those skyscrapers have always been there.

For people born in the next few years, a New York topped by the Freedom Tower is the New York they will know.

GUYS, I have new information about 1 WTC. I asked the port about the floor count of the tower. It is 104 stories.

The PA wrote to me:

Dimi,

Thank you for your inquiry. 1 WTC will be 104 stories tall plus a 408 foot mast. The first office floor starts at floor 20 and there will be a total of 71 office floors.
