I have read and re-read the Sochi 2014 pavilion's website. It sounds great, but they never answer the basic question of whether the general public can attend. Their descriptions are vague and open to interpretation:
"The doors to Sochi World will be open from February 11- 28 for everyone who wants to become a part of the big Russian celebration at the Vancouver 2010 Games."
Ok, Great! I want to attend.
But what does this mean?
"In order to take part in the Sochi World activities, visitors must obtain accreditation (permanent access) or day-passes (single-use access). Day-passes are available at the information desk or at the Accreditation Center at the entrance. For Russian fans, entry passes will be created upon presentation of a Russian passport."
Ok, I'm not Russian. Does this mean I can get a day pass, or that I won't be able to get one? I doubt I'd be accredited . . . sounds complicated. After all, I'm not a sports journalist or travel writer. Hmmm? Oh, and does this day pass, if I can qualify for one, cost anything?
The site goes on to list all kinds of exciting events, but again with no explanations of which events are included in the day passes, assuming you qualify for one.
I just wish it were clearer. I may just try to take some time and walk over tomorrow to find out in person since it opens on Feb 11. It would be nice to know now rather than stand in line some day to find out it's not really accessible.
