Two pics from this evening

For a few minutes the colors of the sky were amazing. Taken from my patio at The Shore.

A couple more pics from Sunday...

Zilker Park and the site of the Austin City Limits Festival. A nice back drop for all of that music!

A wider view of Lady Bird Lake in the evening.

Absolutely! You guys are doing a great job. I haven't had the chance to head downtown in well over a month, so it's good to see what I've been missing

Anyone have a time-line for the new downtown central library? Wasn't this thing voted on and approved a couple of years ago now?

Hi

I need to take pictures of a building in the early stages of construction. Can you please shoot me an e-mail with the address if you see one? [email protected]

Thanks

Construction is set to begin in the Winter of 2011, with an opening in the Spring of 2014.

Looking at the location, I'm assuming the library's construction will coincide with the street extensions in the area. West Ave. will be extended south to Cesar Chavez St., and Second St. will be extended westward to the new West Ave. extension.

thx.. this library can't come soon enough. we're WAAAY overdue. i just wish they could put it on an expedite. i wonder how many floors it'll be?

BTW, any ever been to Seattle's new downtown library (about 8/9 stories) man that's a nice one! the exterior is quite eccentric.

New Library

Seattle's library is a real show boat alright, but I have to admit I think its exterior form verges on the brutalist... an interesting but intimidating piece of sculpture. The interior is a different story. The soaring main room is quite inspiring. I created a web page for modern Seattle architecture here - it includes some images of the library. The designers of Austin's building, Lake / Flato, are among my favorite Texas architectural teams. I am counting on them coming up with something that will be inviting and cool at the same time.

nice Seattle photos. that's one of my all time favorite cities. it's especially cool to visit in the summer as the high temps average around mid 70s, and lows in the mid 50s. which is basically Austin's spring/autumn weather.

BTW, just an observation about embedding your name on all your photos, which i don't have a problem with. but it sure would be nice if it was a smaller font (it's kind of obtrusive the way it is now). anyways, no offense or anything- just my opinion (which may indeed be worthless;-))

peace oot and aboot~

Thanks

Thanks for the feedback. Re: the embedded name - - that is something I have always done on my website since I occasionally sell images. I noticed it was not the norm here, but since I am using these pics on multiple sites, I thought I'd stick with my normal operating procedure - didn't want to have two versions stored on my already overloaded computer. Sorry if it seems over the top.

Great pics. I was thinking of heading downtown today for some pics and maybe hitting up the Joe's Crab Shack view.

I like how the Four Seasons is filling in the top portion with glass. I know the render showed it but it is good to see it materialize.
