Beard Papa's on Robson looks to have equipment in place - so maybe it'll open before the New Year. No signs of life at the Japadog though.

All of the recent 'stand alone' Walmarts have been built with the ability to easily expand to a 'Supercentre'.

I wonder if it will be popular?

Im not TOTALLY sure if this is new or not but i noticed today on the Sears building facing the Future shop side that there is a part of the wall that is different to the rest of the wall. Looks like white panels over the existing white walls. Maybe its been there for awhile and i just never noticed it lol but maybe someone could help me out here!

Pacific Center has installed these really cool LED lights around their entrances.... totally awesome look now.

FYI Hollister's Boxing Day sale is all Hoodies/Jeans 50% off.

Girls hoodies now 24.90 orig 59.90
Guys Hoodies now 29.90 ....orig 69.90.

Looks like good quantities for boxing day...... the whole mall will prob be the best as alot of high end retailers were putting up marketing with some wicked deals... saw markdown signage with some good deals at Apple/H&M/HoCo./GAP ect.

Also anyone notice how the new food court has some serious water damage to fix after this rainy fall?

They had buckets around on the floor near the entrance to The Bay some time ago - at about the same time that Granville Street (i.e. directly above) was being excavated and finished - wierd thing is that they ended up re-tarring and sealing the roof of the mall before refilling with sand, etc. - but I could have sworn that the leaks were after that was done....(could be wrong though)

Well, the place it took over was a super small hole in the wall. But, how big of a space do you need to sell cream puffs.

JapaDog says they will be open around the 15th of January.

Walked past the Birks today. Someone posted pics of the nighttime lighting on it.
That building must set a record for the most number of times the store's name is plastered on a building:
There are 5 lighted "BIRKS" signs - two on each facade (left and right) and one on Hastings in a carved plaque (looks out of place).
On top of that, BIRKS is in white letters on each of the black awnings on the building - I'm guessing 10 awnings (two levels) facing Granville and 4 awnings facing Hastings.
Talk about overkill!!!

Target

Has anyone heard about Target coming to Vancouver? I know there has been speculation for a while that they would enter Canada through acquisition -- possibly Zellers. But a retail guy in another market told me last week to expect a small Target in Vancouver in time for the Olympics! If this actually happens, where could it be?

Southeast Marine? The old Janitor Supply place just had fencing put up all around it, but I don't think the zoning is in place.

A small (tiny for Target) store in the old London Drugs on Broadway? It is papered up and I have not heard anything about new uses.

Any other thoughts or rumours on this?

meh I think its awesome. always busy and I have been by 3 or 4 times I walked but there is tones of parking all around there.

its open 5am - 2 am. so 21 hours/7 days a week. they are worried about grubbies harassing them late at night. The McDonalds on Main used to have a "walk-thru" that was open afterhours to supplement the drivethru and it was a ZOO at times out there with shopping cards out the — and bum fights. I still think Tim's would be ok though

WRT Target - I'd also expect their stores to be pretty high quality in term of merchandising, etc. - so there's no way they could set one up between now and February if it hasn't already started leasehold improvements.
