Amazing collecting of cranes sprouting in Lower Manhattan.

Neither the PA's nor Silverstein's site seem to list a timetable report on Tower 4.

This own site lists the completion in 2012, so perhaps in mid or late 2011 we can see a top out.

Well, would you look at that! 4 WTC, rising above street level! It's been so long, it feels unreal that it's actually, finally happening.

Let's just hope it won't be too long before we see no. 2 and no. 3 join it.

For Tower two? Oh my god, Silverstein rocks!

Anyway, from the RBGZ cam, there are about seven pieces of perimeter steel up now. It's great that things worked out in Silverstein's favor. Now it's just for the arbitration to come to a close.

Question

WIll this crane also go in the core like the other crane or be on the outside. Will tower 4 only have 2 cranes, or will it get big reds like tower 1 did?

Second crane is going on on the outside of the building (the southside to be exact). Here are some pics of pieces to be installed. It will be up later today.

SO the new crane is going up today?! Hopefully this signals the upward motion of tower 4

Wait a minute....those pictures posted before....that's part of a base for a jumping tower crane. I think that's the jumping mechanism for the current tower crane, because technically it's up to it's neck in work right now(the building doesn't have walls yet to attach an exterior tower crane to).

And I believe they stopped concrete work going up above street level so that they could produce that lag like on 1WTC. steel seven stories up and then concrete rises.

You know, the more I think about it, this might be the case. If you take a look at the photo in this other thread: http://wirednewyork.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=8074&d=1260649205 you will notice a stack of tower pieces. I had initially assumed this was the bottom of the second crane, but maybe these are just tower pieces for the first crane just chilling. We'll know soon on the RBZ cam, huh?

Yes those are for an internal jumping crane like those on 1WTC. I suspect that the second crane will in fact be inside the building. They usually do not add more tower sections to a crane like this after it is already up.

And when will the other crane arrive on the site? In July Downtown Express did write, that second crane will be installed in August.... One crane is most likely not enough to build this huge tower.

Oh wait. Scratch that. Not only are they bringing in the jumping mechanisms, but there is also a second boom being assembled right now. It's visible from both cams.
