...true, but at least the two highrise condos on 104th (ICON 1 and 2?) are almost done, plus there are several in the process of being built, so at least there is some continuing highrise construction going on, and that's good for the skyline! no complaints here!

Ok, so 20 ft for each of the first two floors ... 6.10 m X 2,

The next 26 stories will be 14 feet each ... about 4.28 m X 26,

That totals 123.36 m... Now that wouldn't include the spires up top, but are those really going to make up the entire 26 m difference?

I apologize for bringing this up yet again, but I still haven't found an answer to this supposed 149 m sum.

The ceiling of the highest inhabitable floor is 129 m and the spires are 20 m.

from post number 7616:

the total height from the main floor (geodetic 667.59) to the very top of the spires (geodetic 816.94) is 149.35 m. the total height from the main floor to the upper roof is 126.485. the roof parapets as well as the cupola structures and hvac and equipment screening between them as well as the actual "spires" are all built above the 126.485 "structural" upper roof level (even though they are "structural" in their own right in the same way that the cn tower's "penthouse" with the cn signage is "structural" even though it is higher than the tower's main roof level). hope that answers your questions.

I noticed there has been a hose from a FH on 109 going into Rockstars for the past month or so. I suppose it has something to do with its demo...but I could never figure what exactly it was for.

Has anyone seen this updated image for the podium of "Urbia"

Kind of .. incomplete looking, but actually not too bad for BKA!

Anyone see any similarities?

No, they aren't the same tower! They are 8 separate ones!

Expand on that thought, please... (I'm curious what you don't like)

Aside from some less-than-ideal streetfront interaction, I kind of like the uniqueness of it. I'm sure that canopy will look different as well, but it's certainly not a repetitive design.

I had the um 'pleasure' of seeing more detailed podium images at the Sutton one night and it was the following:

1. over designed
2. poor street interaction actually
3. a mishmash of materials, styles, curves, squares,.... ah just see point 1.
4. had a collection of ridiculous columns blocking the 104st side
5. basically not enough time spent to consider all aspects of its location, neighbourhood, and interaction with both the pedestrian and the environment.

another swing and a miss

Ugh. More of the same from BKA. Not enough detail in the rendering to make a firm critique, but judging by all the built examples there won't be any detail or thought in the buildings to make them worthwhile, so the rendering works.

(I notice the stuff that's even kindof atypical for BKA is the roughest part of the renderings. Maybe that's why they stick with what they know. No ability to innovate, only refine past designs into goo.)

If their stuff ever turned out half as nice as the renderings I'd be with you Cold, but given the propensity for BKA stuff to not turn out well I'm a little hesitant.

Most of the detail and form in the rendering is from the black lines, which aren't part of the built form. All I see is a big green lovechild of the Icons and the Omega, with none of the curtain wall of the former or the chutzpa of the latter (I really like 3/4 of the Omega and almost bought in prior to construction).

Here is the podium of Opus:

Could the color combo be any worse? Spearmint, pink and grey?

^^ Id recon that Omega is their best project. Simply due to the fact that it is not too tall, thus reducing the vertical repetitiveness by default.

At least Omega is approachable, having a coffee shop in the podium.
