Something similar to what jsbertram is contemplating is, I think, provided for in the Waterfront Station Transportation Hub plan -
BUT the extended corridor ends up in the great hall of the new transportation concourse (easier wayfinding),
not directly at the Expo Line platform - based on the profile, that's due to the elevation of the platforms and structures in the way
or maybe just to facilitate transfer between all modes.
