Touche!!! I believe they (the client) should direct that to their designers.

I also like their ambition and so far they have taken the risk to put up a building (on spec) and proceed with two other large redevelopments.

^ Definately! These guys are hard at work and its great to see our city and skyline grow!

I think I should start a facebook group, regarding the need for less white in our skyline.

And no, beige, concrete, sandstone, grey, and even the regular dark blue don't count! Lets' spice things up!

^Don't forget that vibrant red that calls places like Alta Vista, Meridian, Grand Central Manor, Legacy, and Grant MacEwan Residence home.

We live in a climate that has a habit of turning white for a few moths. Why do we need to reflect it in our architecture? I’m not saying to go overboard, the purple School in Hayriver(Diamond Jenness High School) is a great example, but lets have some colour.

I've always maintained that Colours condo in Calgary is a good example of adding some colour to an otherwise dull urban streetscape. The glazing at Edmonton Clinic North has the potential to do the same, time will tell, but I have hope.

Sunrise, as that elevation faces east. It will also look stunning in your photos coming soon in 2010!

Yes, that goddamned red. Let's go for a different shade!

And yes! - Why build so many white buildings in a snowy environment? Considering how brown/dirty Edmonton can get in the spring, why have something that has the potential to get dirty! (Tho don't get me wrong, I'm sure that The Rain Tree would look pretty neat from the Leg Grounds in winter, a white tower with large coloured windows, poking up out of the snow coloured grounds from that particular vantage point...)

If done correctly, you could do something with white as an accent colour. A really nice pink/light blue/light green/yellow glass building with white trim has potential. I guess its all about if you do it properly. Despite some extreme and unusual colour combos/choices, nothing is inherently ugly...it's just how you apply it.

What about stucco? Maybe they could start troweling patterns into it, to break up the monotany, lol.

^ Another way is using architectural lighting and shadows. During winter it gets dark fast and no better way to enhance the urban environment than with light.

reason work has progressing SO slow at the QE (wont be ready until 2011) is due to the fact that they hit dirty soil.
