EDMONTON - Edmonton-area home sales in September fell 1.45 per cent compared to the same month last year, according to statistics released Monday by the Realtors Association of Edmonton.

There were 1,704 residential sales in September, compared to 1,729 in September 2008.

But the realtors group said the month still ranked as the third best September on record for sales, behind last year and September 2006 when 1,844 homes were sold.

After prices dipped in August, they returned to midsummer levels last month. The average price of a single-family dwelling was $371,947, and condos were priced on average at $245,546 — both up 1.4 per cent over August prices.

Compared year-over-year, single home average prices rose 2.7 per cent while condos dropped 2.7 per cent.

Compared with where they were at on Jan. 1, single-home prices have gone up $20,000, the association said.

In September, 2,564 homes were listed for a 66-per-cent sales-to-listing ratio. By comparison, in September 2008, 3,100 homes were listed for a 55-per-cent ratio.

The inventory of homes on MLS dropped to 6,032 from 6,445 at the end of August. At present sales volumes, that’s nearly four months of inventory.

Some final details to the Professional Building I caught on my way home today, October 5th.

The Corona LRT station and it's "dazzling" chandeliars. Ugh. Perhaps replace them with some sort of modern(esque), twisted, metal light sculptures? Anything...it currently feels like WEM circa 1985 all over again.

1985 is about when corona station opened, no wonder it feels like 1985.

Its a tribute to its time. No need to replace it. Just keep it clean. Haven't we in this city learned about tearing down our history?

I agree. There is something about the chandeliers that make them timeless. Leave em alone!

I love the look of the Corona and Enterprise Square stations. I wonder who they could call to make matching chrome siding/paneling to replace some of the dented ones down on the platform level...

There's something I like about the Corona and BAy/Enterprise stations in a good 1980s sort of way. Especially the chandeliers in Corona.

EPCOR working on 8th, can't wait to see it up around 20... i wonder when glazing will being installation, can't be that far away... maybe another month or so.

Quest - anyone know about the extra columns?
