^yah those are about the best i have seen as well but still do not convey what most people seem to overlook about our skyline.. density and length

Personally, I think this one by EE is the best shot I've seen in a while.

I wonder if you could get a good shot from the opposite end of town, like the rooftop of the Delta Edmonton South (Gateway Blvd @ Whitemud)...

The western skyline of Oliver seems to be mostly mid-rises. The towers of downtown are clearly an order of magnitude larger, which is the area I think of when I think "Edmonton's Skyline".

well sure... 12-20 versus mostly 20-35...but the western 'skyline' is quite a presence in reality.

Cold, the only place I can think of with some potential is from atop the Whitemud/216 interchange? I love the view from there...not sure how well it photographs though. Maybe someone with a good camera and good skills could manage it? Should be able to get University, West, Central and East parts of the skyline from there.

^^You must mean the Calgary Trail/AB 216 interchange. I believe the WB->SB ramp has shoulders on it, perhaps someone can pull off to take a shot. The only issue I could see is that building @ 23 Ave and Calgary Trail getting in the way of the Oliver skyline.

That's why I suggested the rooftop of the Delta hotel... a little closer, but few obstructions in the way. Also, the 156 overpass over the CN tracks is a bit closer and again captures the skyline with far less obstructions (it even includes the Telus World of Science in the foreground... much more photogenic).

^ Nope. I meant AB 216 and Whitemud...the very East end of the Whitemud as it turns to Twp Rd 522 by Sherwood Park.

If I remember correctly, the U's skyline is distinct from downtown's from there. It certainly would be distinct from the Sh Pk Freeway and 216, but you might not get a good view of Oliver as the perspective is from too far North.

Not to say that Calgary Trail/AB 216 interchange would be a bad place either. Not sure I'd have the guts to stop my car on the flyover, however.

The "great skyline" of Niagara Falls, taken from the 22nd floor of Metro Hall in Toronto. It was incredibly clear this morning and you could see all the way across the lake.

Great view is directly east of 34 Street along the Sherwood Park Freeway. There's a railway overpass there. Unfortunately, there's a huge scrap-metal yard in the foreground, so better to take the picture at sunset to hide that little detail

I think there's a pretty wide shoulder on that ramp, though I haven't driven that exit in a while...

If I had a decent Camera I'd get that shot. It's impressive in the evening this time of year. IMO the best place to get a similar shot to EE from the south would be where the built the new Leger Bus station (where the new HS and rec centre are going on 23ave.). There is a hill there like Griesbach.

I caught a similar view driving up the Deerfoot a little while back with similar lighting conditions. I blew me away - especially with the cranes, makes it look more "dynamic" than when the towers are done. Love what the towers in the Beltline are doing for the skyline. Hopefully we'll see some more before tooooo long.
Anyway, I was hoping someone would post this view on SSP so - Thanks!
