Well, I don't know where the smoke came from all of a sudden, but it gave me an opportunity for some interesting pics of the skyline and surroundings this hot 32 degree Celsius evening:

The Bow's cranes are starting to peak up above the skyline for me

Yeah I heard they were doing a few controlled burns today but the smoke was crazy after 8, methinks somebody underestimated how friggin dry it is out there.

Thanks ppl - according to CBC, the controlled burn burn near Canmore will be going on for a few days (there is a health warning out for it now) so there may be more opportunities to get some pics!

Those are nice pics. It was SUPER smokey last night, and it's still smokey tonight. There's actually ash falling where I am... you'd think we had a volcanic eruption

The Calgary Herald and The Camera Store invite you to enter our second annual My Calgary Digital Photography contest. Just submit your best images of life in Calgary, its people places and idiosyncricies, for your chance to win a photography prize package valued at over $5000.00.

Your original digital images of My Calgary are eligible for the competition. We ask that you also include a short note about what inspired you to shoot your photograph.

Simply upload your images below, three per person, files no larger than 5 MB each, by midnight on October 22, 2009. A panel of expert judges will select the winner and three runners-up, all to be announced Sunday, October 25 at the 2009 Digital Photography Expo at the Telus convention Centre.
