versus say the feeling, appearance, and wonder of no images over windows...

*finding working new image*

worst part of it is that behind those images is the till etc. which means likely no reprieve from the ridiculous decision of putting them there.

^That camera angle certainly shows the massive amount of earth-moving required for this project.

Was in the University area and saw that they were putting up the glass for ECN. The glass is more transparent than what renders I have seen suggested.

Quest is absolutely more massive (in a good downtown way) than i thought it would be. It along with Epcor will really bring the feeling of the core north.

I cannot wait to see Quest opened and alive.

I really hope the podium of Quest is leased by some tenants that will give lots of people a reason to go to that corner.

That area of downtown is really going to be happening when the Arena Entertainment District gets underway and is at least 'part' done. Although I don't get the obsession of pushing north, we should push west and denisfy the Warehouse district within downtown, instead of push to the very fringes of downtown and even into new neighbourhoods (Aurora). Plus it would connect nicely with Oliver. But that's another issue entirely.

I remember it was said somewhere what the tenants would be but the only one I remember is Opa! I think.

I drove down 104Ave for the first time since being back in town (spent the summer at home in BC), and man...Quest gives an amazing feel there. And stopped at the 104 Ave / 101 St lights, Epcor is going to look great from there. Wasn't even at grade when I left 4 months ago.

Love it.

if i recall correctly:

-opa
-subway
-starbucks

which does leave one spot open... and while those will be popular with GMAC and workers, we need to get some retail and or variety going.

That's not bad, I suppose. I know I'll probably visit the new Starbucks there from time to time.

But it would be nice to see something unique in that spot to make it a "destination" of sorts to attract people who don't work or live nearby. I can keep my fingers crossed that the fourth spot will have it.

The one good thing about podium tenants like the above is that they are busy throughout the day and even into the evening. Add a small patio to each and boom, an interesting place to meet on a busy and interesting corner.

Now imagine for a second... 5 more 'Quest' sized (although some thinner please) all put in the 102-104ave from 105-109st area. Badda bing, badda boom.

mroilers: I don't know if we need a destination store there, I think we should focus that on 104th Street or on Jasper...but some sort of retail would really be nice. But I doubt it.

cold: Busy and interesting? Busy as a freeway or like a Whyte Avenue? For 104 Ave I'm going to say freeway, which is a turnoff. And interesting? I doubt it...although the Quest, Entertainment District, and GMAC all together and all built out would definitely change that...

Is the Quest topped off already or does it still have a ways to go?

I don't mind sitting on any patio with action, be it traffic, people, or random acts of intrigue.
