Great pics guys. Priller, I love that b&w! I saw those clouds yesterday afternoon while I was downtown. I tried getting a few shots of it, but I was on the west side of downtown, so I couldn't get the lower part of downtown to line up with it. I'm glad someone caught it!

I think it would be nicer if they lit up the curved concrete behind the spire, as well as the little curved toppers on the white "columns" which go up the sides. Nothing crazy, just spot light them so they appear at night. Especially the one behind the spire. I also consider it the nicest of the new buildings so far, the base with the art-deco stuff, the landscaping, and of course the retail just seems very inviting to me when I'm walking around it. It's a real compliment having Austin Music Hall and that pedestrian bridge right there, too. You can sit in Mulberry having a beer and watch people walk their dogs, while you wait for a show at the music hall...

Agreed. 360 is an all around great building. Once you really study it and notice the detail they put into it, it becomes clear how nice it is. And it has turned that part of downtown around. Without 360 getting built there, I doubt Mellow Johnny's would have opened across the street. One thing that struck me while I was riding my bicycle around there yesterday, was how many bicycles there were. Of course Austin is a big bicycle town anyway, I must have seen 100 bicycles yesterday between downtown and my house in South Austin.
On The Monarch looking like it's from Miami, well, it does doesn't it? But think of how dense Miami is getting. I would imagine with that many buildings going up their lighting designs are probably pretty laid back. Who wants a neighboring building with very bright lights? I know, it's part of urban living, but imagine if that one building was surrounded by at least 4 others and maybe even 4 more that can see the lights. I think as cities get denser the lighting designs become more subdued. Of course your big landmark, trophy towers which are taller than others probably will still be lit up. One note, go check out LoneStarMike's photos that he took. They're on the last page of this thread, (page 322). Notice the green glow from AMLI and how it's turning the lower floors of the W green? Even The Monarch lights up Spring at night. I always think of either Ghostbusters or else Springfield Isotopes when I think AMLI 2.

Yeah, I've noticed a lot of the office towers downtown have been dark, minus One American Center and 300 West Sixth, most of the other taller ones have been dark at night.
