I had the exact same thought when I first saw them deasine, they better not label the upper platforms 1 & 2 as well. In London (the gold standard for English signage imo), any 2 line station with 4 platforms (e.g. Leicester Square) will label the platforms from 1-2 and 3-4.
BTW, the Buzzer Blog has confirmed the renaming of the station.... I fear we'll see a mishmash of signs et al. for years to come.... even today, Miss Skytrain says, "The next station is Stadium"....at least on the old trains. Hell, some train's maps still missed VCC-Clark 3 years after it opened.
Not that London is perfect in this regard; virtually literally countless name changes have occured since the first line opened in 1863, and some stations still have tiled signage with names that changed 90 or 100 years ago. Marylebonne springs to mind, there's tiles that read "Great Central"
