GVA is a great airport with excellent connections throughout Europe and points beyond, plus it's easy to reach on public transport or even bicycle. Nevertheless, it seems pretty small considering it serves 10 million passengers. YEG is definitely nicer esthetically, although it's missing the Rolex dealers post security.

If I were your mayor, I'd lock everyone in a room that's to blame for your airport not even having scheduled bus service, and I'd tell them they have 24 hours to hammer out something more than acceptable and get it going in the next 48 hours, or else I'd turn the CHUDs on them.

Only charters but I thought you might like this for spring 2010.I dont think its in the schedules yet.Came across it loaded in our system while looking at the CO flight times for you all.

^That's great news. Again, EIA should get on this in terms of advertising. I know it's only once weekly but Amsterdam is a great city in itself and it also has great connections for both air and rail. As well, i could see many people flying into Amsterdam and flying out of London or vice versa.

Air Transat to Amsterdam is a really good start too. Not the greatest frequency in the world but I could see like the poster said, taking the train from Amsterdam to go around Europe.

Now let's get daily to Frankfurt!

So this new flight to Houston REALLY seems to be working to my favor.
I just found out I am going to the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 for the NCAA March Madness Tournament...and those rounds are...you guessed it...in Houston!

I'm above Cloud 9 right now!

I would agree that they need to push the charter flights aswell.Thats something the team at YEG has never really done.

Anyways good start with Continental, one of the better American Carriers imo.

Happy to see Continental coming on board with flights to Houston. I have had 25,000+ points on their system for years and have not been able to find a flight with the current Alaskan partner connections to use them up but now I should be able to. I wonder if they will provide connections with Air Canada on their points system once they join Star Alliance...I hope so...

Hopefully the CO flight to Houston will do well because it departs a little too early to connect to and arrives a little too late to connect from.

But of course Continental and Air Canada are adding codeshares on YYC-YEG and YYC-IAH flights respectively. Looks like we miss out again. See below.

A quick search on Continental to get to Fort Mac from Houston shows flights to YYZ or YYC and then to YMM. Houston to Edmonton is showing as operated by Continental only on their own metal...but there are partner code shares on AC. I wonder how the good folks at EIA are seeing this...as there is no feeder routes to or from Edmonton...

I'm sure once they fully enter the Star Alliance there will be adjustments. This is just to begin. Giver time, the DEN-YEG route started off very similar for those old enough to remember and be part of that routes start up

I just flew home to YVR from YEG and saw the progress they're making. I've attached a couple of photos of the temporary gates (I forget the term they use). The photos aren't great (I apologize for that), and they're from the plane, but you get the gist. Also, they've expanded the US departures area to cover the area past gates 58/60. Because of that, the entire southern domestic departures area was quite crammed for my noon flight.
The first gate from the left is 60, everything to the right of it is new.

Looks as though TS is also bringing back Frankfurt effective June 15/10, Some obvious confidence in the YEG market.

Here is some info from the OAG / flyeia.com and OAG / yvr.com travel planners.

YVR 09:30 - YEG 13:10 - FRA 06:10 -2----- TS 926
FRA 07:55 - YEG 09:10 - YVR 10:45 --3---- TS 927

These flights are on the Airbus 330-200. I actually find Air Transat's website a pain to navigate. It never seems to run smoothly and schedules are incorrect sometimes. Is this a sign of the airline? I don't find their prices competitive either unless if you perhaps take a last minute flight. Still, better than nothing. But i must reiterate again. Who in the hell wants to leave FRA at 7:55am in the morning? You basically have to add a hotel stay at Frankfurt to make the Air Transat flight work.
