Is this correct, it take 3 minutes to get to YVR Airport from Sea Island Centre?? That seems quite long to me.

Can't wait to see all of your pics and videos on here while I'm hiding behind my textbooks in Minnesota.

The saddest thing for me is that I've been following the planning and the construction of the C-Line from the very beginning (since 2004-5 when Queetz was still around bashing the RAV Line and checking out RAV Line plans in Richmond Centre), but ended up missing the opening day of the C-Line by only 6 days. But at least the long wait is finally over.

Queetz, Malcolm Johnson, and Derek Corrigan are all likeminds. lol, i still remember him bashing me for being a "creme-de-la-creme" simply because I live on the westside. He insisted that RAV should have been built on Arbutus, despite all the reasons not to, and he even had ideas like building an elevated guideway down Seymour to save costs (then proceeded to show us a picture of a train guideway built in the middle of a narrow street in some city in Asia, which basically killed all life on street level) ........as well as some brilliant idea of building an elevated guideway down Broadway for the SkyTrain Millennium Line extension into the Vancouver Westside. And of course, he was pro-LRT (he hates Bombardier) and didn't understand the whole concept of having a regional transit backbone.

No, it wasn't someone from city council. Surely, if she had done that it would not be professional at all. It was some lady in the crowd.

besides, ribbon cutters rarely wake up before noon. its a very grueling job. sleep in important.

still, the "festivities" should start as early as 10am if avoid rush hour commuters is the reason. A lot of seniors with annual bus pass wake up much earlier than certain ribbon cutters to use transit in the morning.

Jhenifer (buzzerblog) just reveal that before 1pm official open, the line is reserved to various dignitaries for riding it to the opening ceremony

talking about the LINK, I read from news its ridership is ultralow, as low as 12000 for the first 5 weekday regular revenue service. I haven't been down there to try it but still make me wonder if Seattle built the route wrong.

SEATTLE - - Sound Transit's Central Link Light rail averaged an estimated 12,000 riders boardings each weekday during it's first week of service, Sound Transit reported Thursday.

Another 16,900 boardings were recorded on the light rail last Saturday. About 15,100 were counted on the light rail Sunday, the agency reported.

The 14-mile line between Westlake Center and Tukwila opened on July 18.

Sound Transit predicts that light rail will average about 21,000 riders on weekdays by the end of 2009. Daily ridership is expected to jump above 26,000 after a 1.3-mile segment between Tukwila and Sea-Tac International Airport opens in December.

An average of 1,300 riders each day took connector buses between the Tukwila light rail station and Sea-Tac during the first week of service.

"We're encouraged by the large numbers of people who boarded light rail on opening weekend and have started using it every day," said Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels, who serves as chairman of Sound Transit's board.

A 14-mile (22.5-km) line only gets 12,000 weekday boardings. That's just embarrassing. Even the future ridership projections are quite low for all the money spent to build it, to operate it, and for a line that is 22.5-kms long.

That's basically the ridership of a Vancouver bus route.

Every time I see those charts, with the 99 at #1 and the 9 at #3 with a combined 72,500 boardings, compared to the 97 in 21st place with 10,200 , I ask why why WHY are they building the Evergreen Line before the UBC line?

I believe it was Anne Roberts... it was a Translink meeting so she was just sitting with the general public. As for not being professional, she was part of the old COPE council... they were as looney as they get.

Not sure why people are laughing at the current failure of Seattle's Line, we should be saddened not mocking it.

Their line will be get better once it's completed, hopefully we learn a thing or two by any mistakes they've made.
