^ What is happening with the 105 Ave. streetscape plan, anyway?

I hope we see some more development along that Ave. (especially in the 109 St. vicinity) when developers are ready to move again.

I think we need to work on 99av-104av more. 105-107 already has some decent stuff, but a little more can only be better. That being said 109 St and 107 ave could be the 'epicentre' of the North edge.

ExcaliberKid, the risk of losing stantec won't likely come from their not being able to build a 60 storey building in edmonton, it will be from their not being able to provide suitable air connections to the world's financial centres for a new york stock exchange listed company. and the odds are probably better that we would lose them to chicago or boston than calgary so all of alberta would lose as a result of the kind of petty regional squabbling we haven't gotten over with ecca and that some would like to continue with hsr.

Good point concerning the air connections. I suppose thats another hinderance Edmonton has a hard time avoiding. Wouldn't be hard to argue that there is alot riding against us when being considered for a corporate HQ.

I'd say fifth nicest office tower being built at the moment, I can only think of 4 more.

Love that Edmonton's getting a new one, not saying it's a terrible building or anything;nice glass, going to have retail etc.

But what the hell??? First office tower in 20 years and they turned it into a wall???? I wasn't in love with the first tower either, but at least it had steps leading to the top. I know airport overlay, airport overlay, but still there has to be ways around it design wise.

1st of all, 99-104ave has everything full up other than in macosham.

2nd of all, 107ave is outside of the north edge boundary

^personally i quite like Centennial... EPCOR is nice but just slightly above par for the course of modern office design IMO.

feature wise significantly above avg... design wise just above

We'll see if Qualico can be the only ones to get a tower LEED certified in AB. I beleive the only other one that's going for it is the Oxford building down south

I am doing LEED commissioning right now @ Red Deer College. Me so tired.

Actually I don't think they look as decent, think Jameison and Centennial look nicer, but then again I'm on crack obviously.

Centennial reminds me of the Icons, in terms of them looking good when the renders fist came out like three years ago, but have lost their lustre since.

Jameson is just putrid and is going to scar the Calgary skyline for years to come.

The Epcor tower IMO when from 'not bad' looking, but kind-of small town, to really good looking and 'big city' with this latest reincarnation. Yes, some more renders would be nice.

^Yeah guaranteeing if Calgary was getting Epcor and Edmonton was getting The bow, Eap, Centennial, Jamieson, you'd be saying the same thing.

You might want to check the Calgary Future skyline thread for new pics. Can't really spot too many scars if you ask me.

i believe the bow is targeted for leed silver and eighth avenue place for gold (as is the professional building here although i still have trouble calling it intact tower) and i'm sure there're others as well.

@ Ken, the Bow developers said LEED Gold 'equivalent' Which really means nothing. I did not know that EAP was going for gold... that is good.

I know the mech on the Intact job... I don't thinl they'll have too many problems getting thier LEED designation.

Manulife is still my favorite building in Alberta and to me looks better then the Bow. Epcor will be up there for sure.

The Intact building is looking good, I was going past there a couple days ago. Quest is also a welcome addition to that part of downtown and is coming along nicely.

since when is there official north edge boundaries? i've never seen any. what is it then, 105-106av? the north edge most definitely expands into 107av.

99-104 does not have everything up...and where there are buildings already there should definitely be improvements. unless you can honestly say that strip is vibrant. mayfair parking lot/area needs to be developed so does cascadia. then the save on lacks street presence on 109st and whatnot. then you go further north and the grand central manor...really...is that the best we can do? we could certainly make it more appealing with more shops and whatnot there. and then you have the whole future shop parking lot. yeah, that screams walkable and vibrant. then you have 104 ave which is way too wide and more inviting to cars than pedestrians, not helping vibrancy. we still have lots to work on in that strip. 105-107av already has a decent amount of storefronts and the rest could easily become new storefronts. there aren't parking lots with buildings set back or anything and very little empty space for new developments other than the arcus site.
